I say do and do it proud. You earned those stretch marks. I don't think any scars should be hidden. They are signs of survival.

When I get my body back I will proudly show off all my stretch marks, transplant scar and dyalisis scars, and if I was super brave my c section scars too.

Wait, I'm supposed to care what other people think about what I wear to the pool/lake/beach to play with my kids? Huh. What do you know? My give-a-damn broke..... again.....

Wear what YOU feel comfortable, confident and beautiful! Anyone who doesn't like it can bugger off. :)

Do what you feel comfortable doing and dont mind what others think.I got my body back in great shape after baby number2 but i still have my stretch marks on my tights, bum.. and there not red so not very noticable but i dont get to hoots what anybody thinks.I am proud of my body after having my two precious girls and thats what counts so wear that bikini with pride.lol

I find it very funny as i never had the confidence to wear a bikini before i had my children but i do NOW,if only i had somewhere to wear one too lol.

I say go for it too. Everyone has some kind of flaw. At least you got yours from having a child. I have them and I wear a two piece. I got a tattoo over some of mine for camo. Also getting sun helps to make them lighter. Oh well if people don't like it.

I would like to see what men have to say about this! :) I went full term with my twins and the stretch marks are horrible! But my husband likes my 2 piece more than my 1 piece, so I hope it's not too gross to other people. I am in shape now, aside from the stretch marks, so I feel like I should have a choice! However, last time I wore my 2 piece, I had a stranger give me "friendly advice" about what helps remove stretch marks!!!! And she was not exactly great looking in her swimsuit. I was friendly and said no thanks, but seriously if it bothers you to see it, at least keep your mouth shut at the beach! I'd rather see stretch marks than obese in a bikini, but that's just me. I'm usually not even bothered by how people look in swimsuits as long as they aren't trampy looking!:)

My personal aim is to lose the weight I gained during my last pregnancy to sport a bikini. My feeling is that I earned the stretch marks and have three beautiful children as proof. I don't think the fact my body has gone through the precious gift of giving birth three times is something to be ashamed of.

I say if you feel good and are happy with how you look be it 120 lbs or 200lbs then go for it.

I had my first daughter when I was 19. So I was still young. I got stretch marks on the back of my thighs ( so weird). But I guess because of all of the water retention. I am not a heavy girl. I weigh 125 and am 5'6. So when I swelled up, My skin wasnt use to it. Anyway, if I tan reguraly, the marks blend in pretty well. If I thought it looked bad, I wouldnt wear a bikini.

it's honestly up to the person wewaring the bikini...if they feel comfortable flaunting their "pregnancy battle scars" as my husband calls them, why not? i had a baby 10 months ago. i found this past weekend that when i tried on the one piece swim suit that i had worn last summer, that it was too stretched out. my husband and i went suit shopping so i could take his girls swimming. he picked out the suit. at first i said no way. it was a faux two piece. the top and the bottom are connected in the front by a piece of the same pattern and color as the other two pieces. it only covers my stomach. i tried it on and was amazed at how good it felt to be back in a suit that made me look and feel great. my husband said it's the sexiest thing he's ever seen me in, next to my wedding dress. i still have stretch marks on my hips and sides from being pregnant, and i was getting compliments from other women wanting to know where i got the suit.

I guess I would say it depends on how severe they are. I've seen moms in bikinis that look awesome despite some stretch marks, however, mine are severe & I will NEVER ever wear a bikini again. I know mine would gross out anyone, but that's just me. :)

do it to it!! lol. typically it bothers the person with the stretch marks more than the people around them. if you are comfortable good for you!

it shouldn't matter if you have stretch marks or not. some women look good in bikinis & some don't. i never wore a 1piece b/c they make me feel uncomfortable. although i never got stretch marks from my pregnancy i do have them on my legs from being "misproportioned" as a child. my butt grew at a faster rate than the rest of me. lol although the guys liked it, i didn't!

I say WEAR THE BIKINI!!!! I have had 3 children and gained 41 lbs with 2 of them and 36 with the last. Not of choice but it happened. I have stretch marks from being pregnant like most women and am not going to be ashamed of them, its a natural part of pregnancy. I find the stretch marks tan too. I use to wear bikini's but resorted to a one piece after the kids. Then I once saw a young girl on the beach about 225lbs in a bikini, although not flattering I thought If she can wear one than I who has had 3 children can wear on. I went to the store and bought myself a bikini and haven't looked back. Stop worrying about others. Something could be said about others like like at their white legs, tattoos, hairy back etc, WHO CARES !!! they are all out there to enjoy the beach too.

Mine faded well, so I have no problem wearing a bikini. It's about how you feel, not about what others think.

Great answers everyone. Thanks for the feedback. And, there are no stupid questions!

Sheer & utter envy that those women can squeeze back into bikinis. It's gonna take me at least 10 years I think.. if ever! And stretch marks blessedly do fade :)

I consider stretch marks my war wounds, lol. Just like scars, they tell a story. I don't have very many (luckily), mostly on my bum/thighs which grow a lot during pregnancy, and I'm not going to wear a coverup just to please other people.

Wear what makes you comfortable.... If you are wearing a 2 piece and self conscious it will show. If you put on a one piece and can strut your post baby body and feel good then thats what to wear. It is all about what makes you feel the best as a woman..and I put the emphasis on YOU! Good luck to you.

Amanda,

I think it all depends on how you feel about yourself. If your comfortable with your own body then it doesn't matter what other people think. It is impossible to make other people happy so all that matters is that you're happy!

I was 125lbs before i had my baby and gained 23lbs and got stretch marks, I am now 120lb and i don't know that I would feel good about myself in a bikini. Everyone is different, stretch marks come in all different colors they can be white to purple. If yours aren't bad and you feel good about yourself then go for it. myself personally will be in a one piece.

[deleted account]

I personally don't think it's attractive at all, but then again, I can turn away and not look. There are so many different flattering styles and shapes of 1-piece and 2-piece swimsuits, but there are some women that are not ashamed of their body and wear what they want to wear. I personally don't care to see a pregnant woman in a 2 piece bikini either. But if that is what makes the woman comfortable, then I can look away.

I personally see nothing wrong with it. they are back in shape so i say go for it! A little scar wouldn't stop me, and it hasn't. We all get them at some point or another really so i don't feel the need to judge if i see some. IF the person is like 200lbs and sporting a bikini then i have a issue because i don't feel it's appropriate but at the same time i admire their self image.
