What's up with her poop?

Hi ladies.

So, Elena's poop has been more compact and less of it lately. I've noticed that this has happened ever since I started giving her oatmeal with her morning fruit. Should this be concerning? She used to fill a diaper with mushy poo, and now it's just a small little ball of compact poo. Is this just a result of her eating more solids or does she need juice? It's just difficult when she pushes a bottle away that has juice in it.

thats good, adding oatmeal SHOULD be fine... esp if you keep her hydrated... and letting her have apple juice (i find that its best to get the 100% apple juice, regardless of if it is the gerber kind or just plain regular 100% apple juice doesn't make a difference) make sure to dilute it... some times it can be TOO acidy and give them a rash. I don't know how sensitive your baby's skin is... my kids didn't have sensitive skin, so it wasn't an issue, but i know SOME kids have real delicate skin.

oatmeal will make her poo firm up for sure, i wouldn't say it is concerning.... unless it is hard for her to push it out, or hurts her tummy... depending on how young your baby is, her tummy might not be ready for firm poo poos.... if it becomes a problem make the oatmeal a little thinner, and perhaps give her apple juice.

Yeah, I have her rice cereal when she turned 5 months. She was pretty uninterested in that. I guess there's not really a need for it since she sleeps well. Thanks for your help, though, Holly!

the first cereal like thing i gave my kids was rice, it doesn't have near as much iron in it, but it makes them full through the night. but i kept it REALLY thin so it didn't constipate her.

Her coordination isn't that great, lol. I mean, she can hold stuff, but would probably just spill it all over her lap. She drank a little bit of water and just by giving her that plus omitting oatmeal this morning her next bowel movement was back to normal! Praise the Lord. I think formula plus oatmeal is too much iron for her. Her doc actually informed me that since she's formula fed she doesn't really need cereal. Guess we'll just have to do without it from now on, but I'm glad my baby is back to normal! :)

will she drink it out of a sippy cup? how is her coordination? could she possibly handle a regular cup? maybe try one of those little dixie cups? what ever will make her intrested in it.

Should I put it in a sippy cup vs a bottle? She pushes it away when she realizes it's not formula.

Thanks, Holly. She's 3 days shy of 7 months. This morning I gave her fruit sans the oatmeal and she was much happier. I'm buying juice today just in case omitting the oatmeal doesn't help. I was able to get her to drink half an oz of water at least.
