What shoes should I get??

In my opinion any type or brand of tennis shoes is fine, the problem with my son from 10mo-unitl now which is 14 mo. is that his feet are fat not wide but thick and every kind were so hard to put on. I discovered after many pairs that the key is to find a kind were the tounge can be pulled back far so that his foot can basically be set in.

Robezz are nice for when they start standing and walking... barefoot is always the best. The foots natual postion. I found some squeaker shoes that are soft and very flexable. They squeak at the heel so it encorages the child to walk heel to toe and not on the toes. You can look at then at itsybity.com or mushue.com. I have them on both of my grandbabies. They love them. I like the squeak to keep up with them too. SO it would depend on if YOU liked the squeak. Most people that have seen them think they are adorable.

IF you don't want to order shoes online, Target has some look alikes for the pedipeds and I think they're around $15 a pair. As for my son, we get our shoes at Target and Payless when they have the BOGO (buy one get one 1/2 off) so you can get 2 pair of shoes for like $30. OR the BEST EVER thing to do is go to Target and watch for when they have their season close out on shoes and they get rid of a ton of shoes that are left over from the year. I got my son size 7 1/2 Spider Man t-shoes for $2.74. He is still in them and is 19 months old. I find that Wal-Mart does not have any real selection of shoes for little boys, esp if their foot is smaller than an 8 or 9.

Flexible shoes are best. I have seen some great trainers at Walmart for about 11 dollars. My son has been walking since 10.5 months and he is now 1 year old with size 6 feet. I couldn't find any really flexible bottom shoes for outside until I found Preschoolians.com. They are only offered on-line, but they have fully flexible bottoms and a see through bottom so you can see when you need to to order the next size. They offer shoes for crawlers, walkers, runners, and adventurers. I use the walkers and it works well on concrete and grass.

i just checked out the pediped website, they're a little bit more expensive then robeez. but the same general idea, does anyone know a store that sells them? i live in edmonton ablerta.

i'd rather not order online, just incase they dont fit!

Pediped is wonderful! The soft soles are the next step up from barefoot which is recommended for new walkers. If you don't want to pay $30, the leather soft sole shoes at Target are just as good. With the cold weather, the Pedipeds at offer a big thicker (though still very flexible) sole.

The best shoes for walking are the white ones with a good sole on the bottom. They can normally be bought from Sears or Payless. They are approx $30 per pair. But worth it. They have a good grip and are hightops. So even when they tumble they dont roll over on their ankles.

Pedipeds!! I have so much trouble getting shoes on my daughter's feet sometimes (she loves to curl her toes and cries if the shoes are too tight) but pedipeds always go on without issue and STAY on :) They are the only shoes she will tolerate for any length of time. Plus they're nice and wide (comfy) for the flat feet babies always seem to have for the first year or two...

I really like see kai run shoes. They still have rubber soles but it is very flexible and gives them the support they need. They are in the pricey range too. They have infant to childrens sizes and I couldn't have been happier with them. I have also used pediped and loved them for my infant. However, once my youngest was walking full time they were too slippery for her on our hard wood floors.

As far as him learning to walk... when he is inside let him be barefoot or in socks, he is able to determine his balance better. Once he is able to walk without shoes and want to go into shoes get something that supports his ankle. Definately don't just go buy something and bring it home, take him with you, my son's foot is still super wide and has to get shoes based more on width than length. But if you are just looking for something to keep him warm, if he is not close enough to need them with walking, then go for something comfortalbe for him, that he will wear and that will keep his little piggies warm.

I got my son shoes from Stride Rite because he was an xw and that's the only place that carried that width. I loved them and still buy Stride Rite for him and he's almost 3!

robeez actually sells hard soled shoes, they're called tredz, i havnt bought a pair yet, but i'm going too. my daughter has these cute little wool boots from new zealand, but she wont keep them on.... robeez have elastics on the back and top to hold babies feet in them.

Robeez, robeez, robeez!!! They are great, a little expensive but they last longer than hard soled shoes because they come in month sizes verses 3, 4, 5 etc. My daughter wore them until she leaned to walk with confidence. I bought hard soled shoes only after she was walking outside (around 13 months) If we were inside she never had shoes on. If you're worried about cold feet inside, Children's Place has great socks with grippers on the bottom. I firmly believe kids don't need to be in shoes unless they are walking outside. The Robeez are great, check out the website Danielle sent the link to. When you do buy hard soled shoes, unless your son has a reason to buy name brands (wide foot, flat foot) I have found nothing wrong with the "cheap" shoes from babies r us (2/$15) Good luck.

I loved Robeez shoes! They are soft and easy to walk in, like walking barefoot, but they protect their feet and keep the cold off, keep from slipping on hardwood floors. They are machine washable and dryable. Robeez also makes really cute, snuggly boots for the winter. I used them until they were 2 years old.

get the ones that are high around the ankle for support...and word of advice if you do not keep shoes on your child starting at a young age his or her feet will spread...the shoe also provides a shape for the foot...my daughter did not wear shoes until she started walknig because i could not get her to keep them on and i had to buy shoes that were 2 sizes too big and a wide....now they are shaped and she goes

my daughter and my son have a really bad case of flat feet and the best shoes that i have seen for my kids are at pediped.com! they are great!!!! worth every cent!!!

I know that technically, you should get your child a "good" pair of shoes while they are learning how to walk, but I always had just the store brand or payless brand shoes, and both of my kids that are old enough to walk do just fine! Also, I have heard to let them learn how to walk bare-foot, and then let them start to wear shoes. They can get the hang of it a bit easier I guess when they are bare-foot. Just my two cents.

i bought my son a pair of pumas around that age, and i loved them. jack grew out of his pumas and i got him nikes this time around and miss the pumas. the pumas are alot lighter then alot of other tennis shoes. i bought jack's through jounrneys.com at the kidz link, i'm thinking about ordering another pair for Christmas!

pediped.com, they are a bit on the pricey side, but they are wonderful! They have a "flex" style and they move and groove very well with the little ones on the go. We started off with Adidas tennis shoes and they seemed to be too heavy and he kept tripping, so I would suggest a lighter shoe.
