well, i would agree with jil and nichole, unless the grandchild is a baby, babies eat anything and everything the can get their hands on... when i was about 1yr old i choked on a bottle cap... I found my babies got into a pill bottle and were trying to eat the pills.... I rushed them to the emergency room, but luckily they hadn't actually swallowed any.

Jil is right. Aside from fact that she needs immediate medical attention due the possible risk of internal puncture wounds that may cause internal bleeding, she also may suffer from a multitude a different nutritional disorders including pica. She needs medical attention NOW!

Get her tested for PICA, it's a disorder that makes people crave unedible items like staples, batteries etc...it can be lethal! Take her to the ER for those staples!

update us with what happened, but seriously you should have taken her to the hospital as soon as you saw that she had swallowed one!

This questin should never have made it here, really anyone with a head on their shoulders knows to have better supersivion of the child and anyone with a brain cell would take the child immediately to the ER. What kind of suggestions and or advice were you looking for besides taking her to the ER??????????????
