What theme to do for a 1st Bday in May?

My son is a june baby and we did a party to celebrate successfully being parents for a year. Garden party, BBQ, close friends and family. Found investing in multi-coloured plastic crockery a good one as it has lasted many parties and daily use. A rainbow theme works wonders...guests dressed in a favourite colour...balloons....universal birthday banner. Just take plenty of photos of present opening for him to enjoy looking at when he's older.....enjoy

My son's birthday is at the end of April on the 22nd and for his first birthday we had it at a park, the kids played on the playground and then we did an Easter egg hunt. With one year olds, they do not do much. I filled the eggs with age appropriate items; fruit snacks, safety suckers. I purchased big eggs and filled them with little stuffies, things little one's like. If you are going to have it at the house you can also either rent or buy the small blow up bouncy house and one or two ball pits. You can usually buy the small blow ups for less then $200.00, we had one and it lasted each year until my son was in Kindergarten. The children love them and will play in them all day long. We did cupcakes (they make then to look like cakes now) for the children because they are just the right size for them to eat and of course you have to have the small cake for the birthday boy. If you have a Publix there they will give you the one year old small cake for free when you order a birthday cake or cupcakes. You can go to either Birthdayexpress.com or Orientaltrading.com for birthday supplies. Orientaltrading has birthday supplies, balloons and toys for gift bags. You can get some great ideas.
If you need more help, please feel free ask me, I usually do all the parties for my son and friends kids.

Make it unique to your child. My son'd first word was duck so he had a ducky first birthday party. My daughter loved shoes at 1 (the only thing I distinctively knew she likes) so we had a shoe party where everyone bought her a pair of shoes in different sizes (she''s still wearing them at almost 2). It was after christmas - we didn't want toys.

I didn't rreally do a theme. I have a girl, but saw some cute yellow and pink polka dot plates on sale, so just did cake and tablecloths to match. At age 1, the party is more for us parents, since the kids don't remember it anyway :-)

A May bday. huh lets see...What is he into? Fav tv show or super hero. Or you can make it a circus theme, trains, race cars. Then you can have some things to drive outside. You can make a train cake or race car cup cakes. If you need more help just let me know.
