What to do during shower time?

I have a very active 18 month old that used to sit in her exersaucer for me while I took my morning shower. Recently she learned how to get out, but at leasted waited until I was out of the shower. Today, she didn't wait. I have tried getting up before she does, but somehow she knows this and wakes just before my alarm goes off. It doesn't help she is an early riser. Any suggestions what I can do to help her stay out of trouble?

I agree...either take her in with you or wait until she naps before you shower.  I have 3 under the age of 5 and need to wait until all are napping or Daddy is home so that I can shower.

I agree....take her with you! Unless this is the only time you get to yourself, and then I'd just wait until she goes to bed at night to take a shower.

With four boys in the morning I never got any peace. It was easier as the boys got older to just switch to evenings when they were it bed or down for a nap. Hope this helps :)

Take her in with you! Babies love playing in the water, so why not give her more chance to play. Minimizing your stress & worry while maximizing her fun is an advantage when you can figure out easy ways to do it. If you're not comfortable with that, try something else. We have a portable playpen that we used to put the babies in. Put some toys in there and put them in the bathroom with you, or if your bathroom isn't big enough, keep the door open and have the playpen where you can still see it if you need to peek out of the shower.

What I do is: tell my 3 year old that I am going for a shower and tell her to put on her shows ( which she know how to do herself) and put my 11 month old son down for his morning nap. I don't have enought time to do my hair after the shower because he wakes up but at least I got a shower in and I knew they were safe!

Could you adjust your schedule to to it at nap time or at night?

I had this problem as well with my youngest daughters (now 3 and almost 2)...I tried bringing them into the bathroom with me, that worked for a little bit. Then I tried waking up earlier...wow that sucked! Then i tried just having a shower at night time after i put them to sleep. I placed the monitor just inside the bathroom so i could hear if they were awake. What actually worked for me, was putting a baby gate in the door way to their bedroom, that way if they got up, they could only play in their room....the bedroom is totally 'baby' proofed (as it should be in a lil ones room). This gave me a piece of mind knowing that even if they were up, they were safe.

Good luck! I have a 3 yr. old and what I do is run bath water and we play for a bit. I then take my shower-with her still in the tub.

Ive got a portable bassinet, you can set it up in the bathroom like a mini play pen, put toys in it, and that way she cant get into trouble. I usually wait until my son naps, or when Dads home to showeras well. But so far the bassinet is like gods gift to me, I can take a shower when ever I want if he is up with that thing!!

Yup, either take it after she's gone to bed at night or bring her into the bathroom with you. When my daughter starts walking I plan to let her actually shower with me but for now she hangs out on the bathroom floor while I shower. It's not the funnest thing in the world, cause she ends up yelling at me for half of it, but that is why I usually shower after she's gone to bed. I won't get morning showers again until she's in school I don't think.

Yah, I switched to evening showers when my kids were getting into stuff - its just easier and you can take your time and actually enjoy it without worrying about what she's getting into.  Or you can put a video that she loves on, (save it for just those moments so she doesn't get bored of it) - that usually keeps them glued to one spot for awhile.  Good luck !!

Maybe you can try a walker, because then she can move around instead of being in one spot, or you can put up a baby gate in her doorway of her bedroom and give her some toys to play with while you take a shower! If that doesn't work, I would just resort to taking a shower at night when she is asleep.

You could, as suggested, take her in with you and let her sit on the shower floor with some bath toys or why not pop her back into her cot (if she still sleeps in one) while you take a quick shower she'll be safe and sound.

Take her in with you!! That way you both get clean and you know just where she is!
