I wouldnt go all out with bouncy castles and taking your daughter to a place that she wont remember or even be able to play on any thing. I like the birthday cake and presents one. Family members and best friends to share. With heaps of photos with everyone. I think the 5th birthday is the best where you can go all out. and "Happy 1st birthday"

When my son turned one we had a carnival/circus theme. I got some of those plastic popcorn tubs (the old fashioned ones with the red and white stripes) and filled them with popcorn. I also had little centerpieces on the tables with gumdrops and lollipops. I gave out bags of cotton candy and popcorn balls to the kids as favors. I didn't want to spend the day dealing with grilling and being preoccupied, so we ordered a 6 ft. sub and chicken and a couple family members just brought some salads. We filled a few coolers with pop and water and the drinks/food were just sitting out so we didn't have much to do but enjoy our guests and the birthday boy.

For my kids' first bdays I just had family and a few close friends for cake. It's really fun to watch baby dig into the piece of cake. Have chocolate frosting. It shows up best in pics. I wouldn't go all out, she won't remember it anyway. This year it's more for you than her. They'll be asking for big parties that cost money soon enough.

my daughter's first birthday is next month! & i'm gonna have something kinda small, like all of the people that are actaully very involved in her life because i wouldn't want her to be so overwelmed with people she has ment like once :) her theme as a baby was winnie the pooh & i was thinking renting a community center for her & other children to run around probably have a cook out & people bring food as well. good luckk :)
