My son has baby acne really bad. The doctor won't prescribe anything basicloy because he's new and hasn't prescribed anything before.

its normal for a infant to have "baby acne" but there is a mild lotion its called triple cream its for eczema. My sons doctor okayed it for his face it helped a lot, it didnt take it completely away but he helped a lot. I only applied it right before his longest nap of the day once a day.

Just leave it alone, it will go away eventually. Not something you want to mess with or it could get worse.

I know this may sound a bit weird or yuck but I have heard that if you rub a little breast milk on them it helps get rid of them. I can't say if it works or not my son really didn't have baby acne that bad, but a few of my friends have told me about this so give it a go it might just work and breast milk is definately not harmful to you baby! lol

if it's definitely just acne bumps, and they get redder when the baby cries or seem to get more bumpy/reddish when irritated by anything, go ahead and try a diaper rash cream with zinc oxide. Just a teensy bit seems to do the trick on the bumpiest stuff on my baby. She started getting it when we had to give her amoxicillin for an ear infection at 2 weeks old (don't get me started. I came home from the hospital with a sinusitis caused by a virus, and my baby finally contracted it, which gave her a nice ear infection within the first month of life. Would've been worse if I wasn't breastfeeding.) Anyway, it looked like a diaper rash so I used some Butt Paste (I have the super natural version anyway) and it cleared them up. It didn't stop new ones from forming, but it got rid of the ones that were there and treated them as they cropped up. She still gets little break outs and I don't do much of anything, they go away, but if it's a whole cheeky, go for it with the diaper rash cream, just avoid the eyes.

My baby had baby acne too, but yes it will go away on its on. Its normal for most babies to develpe baby acne because of the hormones from you. The nurse just told me to use dove body wash for sensitive skin because its mild and fragrance free it has no dyes or anything. We did and his acne was less red and went away fast. So yeah basically just keep it clean and patience.

My son is allergic to milk protein and soy, so when he was getting breast milk he had bad acne. When we switched to a hypoallergenic formula, his skin cleared up in days. It was the allergies causing the acne.

Baby acne will clear up on its own. Baby's skin is very sensitive - and putting anything on it to treat the acne could make it worse.

You're doctor is not refusing to prescribe things due to being new. He's being intelligent. There is nothing to clear up baby acne, and it's quite dangerous for them to be exposed to the medications used for adults to clear acne. In fact, it's not safe to use some acne products while pregnant, either.

The best solution is to wash gently with a warm damp washcloth 2x per day.

You don't do anything for baby acne. It will clear up on it's own. It's caused from the horomnes that are transfered from you to them during birth. Babies can't handle any medicines like we can. their skin absorbes too much and it could make them sick.
