I know this may sound weird, or you may have been told this.. Use the plain old glass bottles, and man mad a difference with our son. No spit up, no upset tummy.. Just using old fashioned glass bottles..

My kids had reflux, but my doc didn't give meds unless the child seemed to be in pain or lost weight. My biggest suggestion is be prepared for spit up (extra clothes for you and baby, spit towels and stuff to clean messes with). And keep a sense of humor about it. It will eventually pass and gets better after baby is on solids a while. Try not to let people bounce your baby around or hold too tightly. Good luck, it's just one of those things that will eventually get better.

I bought Enfamil AR, it is formula that is already thickened for babies with Reflux, it helps hold stuff down.

Try keeping your baby in an upright for 30 mins after feedings making the milk easier to digest. I would also try putting a wedge in the babies crib. You can buy them from most baby retail stores ( ie babies r us). it helps keep the baby at a 45 degree angle making them more comfortable when sleeping becasue they are less likely to reflux this way.

My son's Dr said lots of cereal in the bottle too. I cut the nipple wider and put about four oz of cereal per 8 oz bottle before I noticed a big difference.

MY SON WAS DIAGNOSED WITH REFLUX AND THE MEDS DIDN'T WORK, WHAT WE ENDED UP DOING WAS TAKING HIM OFF OF BREASTMILK AND WHEN WE MADE THE FORMULA, WE USED WATER THAT WAS AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. WHEN WE HEATED THE BOTTLE, THAT IS WHEN HE WOULD HAVE THE REFLUX AND SPITTING UP. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE GENERIC FORMULA AT BJ'S WHOLESALE THAT WAS EQUIVILENT TO ENFAMIL DID NOT SETTLE AS HEAVY ON HIS STOMACH. HOPE I HELP YOU

Quoting Andrea:
What tricks do you have for a baby with reflux that is not currently treated with meds?
I had my twins 10 wks early so when they started taking their feeds they had quite bad reflux & so the SCBU staff used to put them on their tummys for a bit after feeds which i still do now at home but only when im in the room with them.
