What was your child's first word?

My daughter's first word was "mama" at age six months. At ten-eleven months old she could say "a duck" and point to the mallards that would walk around our porch because we fed them bread. They'd fly in from the lake across the street. She was our alarm for "get the bread"...lol. My son's first word was "dada" when he was six months old...he said "mama" about two months later. Twenty four months after that, he learned "I don't like it!" It stuck with him for about ten years after that. =)

of course you do all the work and they say dada first? my son was always looking out the window or in the yard and said bird clearly as his first word.
lol i agree with you about the dada. We carry them, feed them, change them (most of the time), and their first word is dada? lol. Its never made sense to me. lol....My little boy use to look out the window too only he was looking for squirells. lol. Now all we see is birds where we live now and when he sees a cardinal he says "oh mommy look a carminel." Lol. He tries.
