So My son just started JK and they had a practice lockdown on fri. Its just like a fire drill they never tell you when its coming. Well my son was in the washroom with 2 other children and his teacher told another teacher to go get all the kids. My son was in a stall and the teacher didn't look in the stall so he got left behide. He was ok and walked back to his classroom and knocked on the door but Iam SO MAD about this. What if it was a real lockdown b/e someone was shooting up the school or something like that. What would you do?

Thank God that it was just a drill!! If I was in your shoes I would talk to the director or principal of the school and have him or her discuss this with the teachers along with the parents, maybe they have some concerns as well...

I would complain. They should be doing head counts before going back to the classroom lock down or not.

Good lord it was a PRACTICE. Practice is to learn from mistakes. Call the principal, call the superintendents office and be CALM. Stress the need for more of these drills and practices because look what happened to your kid.



Honestly - I think it was great they thought to check the bathrooms at all.



In a real lockdown situation do you think ANYONE wants to go into the hallway if there is a gunman on the loose for 1 or 2 kids? Kudos to them for trying this out!

Luckily it was only a practice run, the main reason for them is so that people can learn through them. I would raise my concern and hopefully next time, no child will be left in a stall. If they had done a roll call when all the children were in a safe zone, they would have figured it out. Maybe just give some constructive suggestions.

You could file a formal complaint with the school district and the teachers will all get talked to about it, but theres not much else you can do besides strss safetly to your son just incase somthing real does happen.

I would thank God that it was just a drill and ask them to train their staff a bit differently so that "no child gets left behind".
