My baby starting eating baby food early....I didn't breastfeed because of certain reasons....and he couldn't have formula because it was agreeing with his stomach so he had milk when he was really lil. After he was a lil over 2 months though he started wanting to eat allllll the time 8 oz at a time....he is 18lbs at 3months.

it really depends on the baby... I really wouldn't be giving my child anything before 4 months old as in SOME cases the food even rice cereal can tear the lining of the stomach.. My daughter is 6 months old and still hasn't started but will be in a couple of days after we go for her needles.

While I'm not discrediting doctors, I do believe that everyone's case is different and it definitely depends on how developed your infant is. What works for Jennifer, may not work for Brandy, but may work for me or it may not. I think the doctor's guidelines are definitely something to consider especially if you're in doubt. My daughter is now almost 14 months and she started eating a bit of baby food at around 4 months and some rice cereal. But for the most part, my husband and I stuck to more formula than anything. She's doing fine right now. She loves to eat anything she can lol.

i started my son on solids just after 3 months, as his milk (breast feeding) wasnt enough for him. the health visitor, nurse, doctor (anyone you cvan think of) told me he shouldnt start till 6 months, but my son was hungry. i didnt shove burgers down his throught, i started him off an very small amouts of mashed up veg or baby jars. he is now 3 and has no health conserns. you no when your baby is hungry, just do what you see fit

Most of my kids started on solids around 6 months. One of mine waited until almost 9 months. I breastfed and they didn't need any solid food until then. If your baby is just drinking regular milk, he does need more nutrition than that. Rather than solid food, I would try to find a formula that he can eat. There are so many kinds. I am sure there is one that would agree with him. Have you tried the soy kind?

I would have to say... there really isn't an exact time. Most people would say at about 6 months. I would have to say talk to your childs dr. they probably can give you the best advice.

I started my oldest daughter at around 4 months, when she started screaming at me for things that I had on my plate. She was my first, and I called the pediatrician first, but, his advice was... if she wants it, and its healthy, let her have it.

I am not a new mom. My "baby" is 29. But I started both of my children on cereal at about 6 weeks and fruit at 3 months.

I started my daughters at 6 months of age. I tried a different food each week, however of one my daughters got an allergic reaction, so I had to change the cereal to a different one. I think it might be different for some parents but I don't think you should start any earlier than 6 months because its important that a baby just has either breast milk or formula. Hope that helps. and hope it is an easy transition into eating solids for you!!:)

I think around the 6th or 8th week-baby rice cereal for a few weeks-then fruit

My mother started me on the rice cereal trick. Sometimes its better to go with what the women you trust say and not just the DRs. I dont know about you, but it seems to me the little tricks wouldnt get passed down if they didnt work and werent safe.

I too started my two babies around 2 months of age for the same reason; sleep. They are now 29 and 27 and both of them in good health. neither one of them spit up much either.( According to the pediatrician was due to just giving the baby formula all day and bouncing them around. Made good since because you can hear it sloshing around. ) I figured he should know if it was really OK due to having 8 children at home. But I didn't do it on my own accord; my great-grandmother started it. She was a wise woman.

I started both my girls on rice cereal in their bedtime bottle at 3 months (Whats can I say I like to sleep more than 2 or 3 hours at a time), and on baby food between 4-6 months, by the time they had little teeth I fed them what I made everyone else, in tiny baby bites.

My son was a lil older when he started because of health issues. He loves food now!! He never stops eating! The only thing is he's 10 months old and only 19lbs. He also developed very slow because of surgery and not eating real baby food until he was almost 8 1/2 months.

My lil man is a big boy - was at birth - we didnt start solids til 6 months. we started him out slow and didn't force it. he is 9 months now and he grabs for food off our plates. just listen to your little one and see how he does with solids. good luck - breast milk is meant to be their main source on nourishment for the 1rst yr of life.

I had a big boy as well - he was 24 lbs 1 oz at his 6 month checkup, and that was when we started him on solids. Even though he was big, he was still doing just fine on breastmilk alone, so I didn't see any reason to start solids early.
