My son is 8 months and still has not gotten his first tooth. He is defiantly teething. When will he pop out a tooth? I feel so bad for him!

Not to worry. My 2nd child got his first teeth at 12mths old, the longer they take to come through the stronger they will be. My 18mth old now has just 8 teeth.

My son didn't get a single tooth until 17 months! and then prodeeded to get ten over the next 6 weeks - not my fave parenting memory! He's now rapidly approaching 7 with not a wiggly tooth in sight - even including the one he knocked which died and turned black when he was three, still stubbornly holding on.

I was always told the later they come the better for his adult teeth.

My son got his first teeth at 6 months and my daughter got her first 2 at 4 months. She is almost 8 months now and I think a couple on the top are about to break through.

My daughter is 14 months and still has no teeth, but she can eat almost anything! We just have to be patient I guess.

My daughter got her first 2 at 10 months and they are still the only ones she has at a year old. Some babies get them late.

[deleted account]

My son got his late as well. I think he was around 8 or 9 months when he got his first two teeth on the bottom. Now he's a year old and 4 popped up in the last couple weeks.

My baby girl her first tooth a few days ago and is working on another one and she's 7 months.I think it depends on when you got your teeth in when you were a baby.

My oldest was about 9 months and my youngest was 4 months. It all depends. I would think that if he doesn't have any at all by the time he is 1 you might want to ask your doc but I would just wait it out. Don't worry it will happen

My daughter is almost 9 months and no teeth. Like everyone has said, every child is different. When did you get your teeth? I was a late tooth-bloomer myself (8mths) so if genetics plays a role (and I believe it does) then she takes after me.

My Pediatrician (been in the biz for over 26 years) said he once had a child in his practice that had no teeth until 17 mths! With that, he told me not to worry. And with that, I am thankful for these precious remaining days where my baby (who shows all signs of teething) can nurse without biting me.

Good luck

My daughter was born with 2 teeth and my son got his first 2 when he was 4 months and something I used to give them to sooth was Mr Freezies with the rough edges cut off into smooth edges so they wouldn't cut themselves. I found teething rings helped but didn't stay cold long enough.

My daughter had a top tooth break through at 4 months, but it sealed back over so we talked to a dr about it and he told us it just wanted ready and told us the average time babies get their first tooth is about 7 months.. Finally at 9 months, a bottom tooth came through and stayed!

Every baby is different!

I know what helped my teething baby was teething tablets and teethers.

I hope your little boys tooth pops through soon! =)

My son got his first 2 teeth (bottom front) just before 4 months, little white dots, then lines a day or two later, then about a week later little itty bitty teeth...shiny little pearls!!! He started cutting his top two front teeth at about 6 months, they have taken MUCH longer to come in...it seemed like they stayed just under the skin (but visible) for weeks and weeks, they finally broke through at about 8 months and days later four more top teeth are breaking through...no signs of any new lower ones though; he is now 9 months (on July 27th) and he will have 4 on top and 2 on the bottom. My mother said that I started getting teeth at 3 months...but Daddy didn't get any till around a year so Daddy's Mommy said that there was NO WAY he was teething at 3 months like I had told her...I didn't know what I was talking about and that babies didn't get teeth until they were crawling and sometime walking...whatever...goes to show you age does not measure know-how or intelligence!!! I used cold washcloths (sometimes frozen, but with VERY CLOSE SUPERVISION and NO longer than a few moments of contact at a time, taking lots of breaks then reapplying to the gums), believe it or not the thing that worked the BEST for ME was to stick a pacifier in cold water and squeeze the nipple so it would suck up the water so I could freeze it (placed in ice cube tray to keep upright)...ALL of the books I read said DO NOT FREEZE PACIFIERS...guess I am a rebel, because when worse went to unbearable pain for him I decided to try it...it made sense to me that it would make his gums feel good...again CLOSE SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED!!! I INSPECTED THE PACI CLOSELY FOR DAMAGE, RIPS, TEARS, ETC, FROM THE FREEZING AND EXPANSION. HTH!!!

Dear Martha,
My lil one started having teeth when she was about 6 months old. Yes, i'm sure your son will have some popping out very soon. Sometimes it takes longer for boy to teething too. Hope this helps :)

My son got his first tooth right around eight months. It look like he had a blister on the lower gums and it came in a few days later. I gave him the hylands teething tablets. He is almost two and he still likes them when his gums hurt. Give him baby tylenol or motrin in conjunction with the tablets. good luck. do not be surprised either if he has diarreha too with the teething

My daughter did not get her first tooth until she was 15 and a half months. She is now 19 months and only has 8 of them through. She is getting some more now but not sure how many. I would not worry too much they will come when they are ready. I was told that the longer they take to come through the stronger they will be so dont be too concerned.

My son didn't cut his first tooth until 11 months! Then he got 6 all at once. He never can seem to cut just once tooth, it has to be 2-4 at a time. All his molars came in at once, now his canines. Don't worry, it will happen. My son teethed for months also before one actually popped through.

my son at 3months got his 1st and has almost got them all now at 15months. But than my friends son only had 2 teeth by 12months! so he is just a late teether nothing to worry about. Feel the gums and you can prob feel the bottom under the gum ready to pop out. Teething can be horrible for some bubs but breezy for others. my boy has been pretty lucky!! just give him alot of teething rusk and things to chew and suck on as it may even help it fasten up for him. Goodluck

my daugther got her first two teeth at 6 months. She now has five at 1 year and 1 month. Don't feel bad they will come and more than one at a time. My boys did about the same as their sister. Some cut teeth earlier some later but when they do they do. Your baby will cut more than one at a time teething rings forget it have a clean wash cloth on hand and cold water to put it in works wonders. They can chew it put it where they need it. Your the one to feel sorry for if it has took this long cause your baby will be fussy just be patience with them and tylenol does help ease pain one half teaspoon by child's age. Watch for tugging ears fever is not an effect of teething it is an old wive's tale. Good luck cause you will have it worst than most.

My first born started teething at 3 months but didnt cut it all the way through for another 5 wks. my 2nd got his fist at 9 months and it came through in just a few days. The youngest is 6 months and still completely gummy. Try orajel for the immediate discomfort and teething tablets about an hr after that. it helped with mine but its no guaruntee since no two babies are alike.

None of my kids had any teeth on their first birthday, they were 12 or 13 months olds before they started coming in - now they are the last kids in their class to lose their baby teeth. I think they were kind of later than most kids in getting their teeth.

Both of my kids got teeth early, at 5-6 months. My best friend's son didn't get his first tooth until he was about 9 months, which is perfectly normal. Some babies need many months of slobbering and fussiness to start pushing out teeth. No worries though, your son is totally normal!!

My oldest daughter didn't end up popping a tooth until two weeks before her first birthday. She consistantly gained a new tooth every month after that... For her once it first cracked the surface all was well it seemed to be the movement under the gums that bugged her the most....

my daughter had 4 on top and 4 on bottom when she was 8 months old, and a full moth of teeth when she was 1. my son on the other had took a little bit longer but not much, i think he was just about 1 1/2 to 2 months behind his sister. just be sure to give him some tylenol to help with the pain.

Every child is different. My first child got his first tooth at 6 mths, second child at 5 months, both had a full set of teeth by 12 mths. That being said, my friend's daughter got her 1st tooth at 1 year old and it was a molar to boot. Don't worry they will come, you'll know a tooth is on it's way when your ds starts drooling like crazy all of sudden for a few days. The bottom front teeth are usually the first to come in. All those firsts are so exciting!

hi, my son is 6 1/2 months and he got his first tooth 4 weeks ago and his second last week and at 4 months the doc confirmed that he was teething. first you see swollen gums and the baby is very cranky, then you get your hopes up seeing a little white line in his gums and a lot of heavy drooling and the baby can't go to sleep, then finally a lot of painful screaming and i saw blood when his second tooth ruptured through then a quiet, calm, happy baby.

good luck and if your nursing hope he doesn't bite.
