My baby girl turned 5 months old yesterday and when I was checking her mouth I felt a tooth !!!!! I was shocked and excited....but I feel its a little soon.
Just wondering other moms experiences and when their babies cut their 1 st tooth.....

can't remember when my daughter cut her first tooth, i think it was around 4 months.
but you saying that if kids develop any faster they will be born with teeth. I WAS!!!
i was born with my top 2 teeth already through, that was 27 1/2 years ago.
unfortunately for my poor mum the nurses either did not check or did not tell her and so she got a nasty shock when she tried to breast feed me lol!

Its best you see your GP What I have known its normal to some baby to have there first tooth at five months BUT have a talked to your midwife or plunket nurse they will tell you alot. Hope you find your answer CHEERS

My son had his first tooth @ 5 months as well or that is two teeth one at the center top & the other below in opposite the first one. Orajel was our best friend as well.I was so worried it was too early that I contacted a Dentist who informed that some baby's may get them sooner but not to be alarmed at all by it. Well, my son is now ten and still has 2 teeth to be lost ha,ha. Ironic isn't it....lol....

Oh my goodness! My daughter had her first tooth comin in ( visble but not breaking gum yet..) on her 1st birthday! Finally a few days after that she had both of her front teeth so I called her my easter bunny! (Shes born in March..) Its sad story but I think the only reason why the front top ones came in so fast was because she slipped and fell and busted her gums :( But after that her teeth came in fast! A year later she had all her teeth.

My baby finally got his first tooth at 8 months, but I have heard of babies getting them as soon as 1 month!! My doctor said anywhere between 3 and 15 months is completely normal.

My son was a late bloomer with his teeth, lol. He didn't get his first one until 8 1/2 months! I always thought it was because his father and family had horse teeth and it took longer for them to come in, lol..

Every child is different on everything. No two kids are alike. My daughter didn't get her first tooth until her first birthday. Wasn't able to sit up without support until after 10 months, doc said that her butt hadn't flattened out enough yet :), and didn't start really walking by herself until 14 months. They just need to do things opn thier own time lines, and not worry about when the other kids are hitting their markers.

Teeth can come at any time sometimes they are born with them but the normal time is around 9 months. My four were all different with one at 4 1/2 months 7 months & 9 months but when my daughter reached 18 months with no teeth I got worried. After checking with the dentist who sujested lancing her gums to force them through if they didnt arive by 2 yrs they came in just before 19 months today at 32 she has never had any work on her teeth and often had comments on how perfect her teath are. By the way they all came in together over three days, major crying but it was better than the others.

My daughter was just over 8 months before her first tooth appeared. Now all of a sudden she's got two! Every child is different. I've got 3 and one got teeth very early, while the other 2 got teeth around 8 months.

Ironically, all of mine had their first tooth on their 6 month milestone. 5 months is not bad. It is exciting. Doctors (dentists) only concern is when their last tooth comes in. That also marks the closing of the fontanelle. That is when the mouth slows its growth. If its too fast... teeth may become overcrowded. Enjoy this time.

my son was almost 6 months when both bottom teeth started to show... he is biting everything now!!! we call him "water mouth" cause he drowns everything in drool!!!
5 months isnt too early... its pretty standard

My son got his first two bottom front teeth when he was almost 10 months. He is now 11 1/2 months and his two top front teeth are cutting through. I am just ready for the teething to be over! I know it is so painful for him.

Every child is different and have their own timing. My son started teething at 5 months. I am a dental assistant and learned in school that the average time for the appearance of the first teeth is between 5 and 7 months of age, there is a wide normal variation of timing. The teeth might come in as early as one month of age, or they might wait until a child is almost 1 & 1/2 years old. Anywhere in this range can be normal.
Generally lower teeth come in before upper teeth, and generally girls' teeth erupt earlier than those of boys (much like with everything else).
Natal teeth or teeth present at birth are found in about 1 out of 2000 newborn infants. These are often extra teeth, but this should be confirmed radiographically before any attempt is made to remove them.

my little man was 3 months when he cut his first tooth. He's now 11 months and has 8-poor lil guy. He's handled it well but Im afraid for when the back ones start coming in-I hear those are the WORST!

My son got his first teeth (both front bottoms) at 4 months. He is 7 months now and now has 4 front ones on top plus the two on bottom. I didn't think they would come in that quickly.

my eldest who is now 4, got his at 7 month old where as mckenzie my youngest as upto now as im expecting got his first the day he turned 5month old and week after he got his next, every tooth came through within a week of each other after his first but every child is different sme get non at all till one year old others get spurts where they get two at once then none for a month or two, or some get them all at same time.

My little girl didn't get her first tooth until she was 11 months but my friends bub has just cut her first tooth at 3 and a half months. Pretty crazy even the health nurse didn't believe her at first. I think that the average age is about 6months for the first tooth.

Our boy got his first tooth at 5 months as well. He is 8 months now and has 4 teeth. He is definitely one the earlier side. My friend's baby girl didn't get her first tooth until a little after a year I believe.
If you are nursing remember to "scold" her when she bites you. Just say a firm 'no' and take her off.
Baby teeth are so cute! Have fun!

my son was 3 months old with two teeth. he had all of his teeth by 10 months. needless to say oragel and children's motrin were my and his best friends!!! one of my former day care clients oldest child was born with what doctors call "false teeth" and a family friend's daughter didn't get teeth until she was three years old. all kids are different.

Mine were around 3 or 4 months. Best thing is Baby Orajel. Some people think this is taboo, but I would dip my pinky finger in the lid of Crown Royal and massage it in. This is NOT harmful at all. It numbs the gums, and the massaging is relaxing for them, too. I was excited but as a new mom of course I fretted about my kids being happy and not in pain. But, that never stops. Even as an adult, my mom feels helpless when I'm sick. It's cute. It's cool when they get teeth. Teething rings are nice, those frozen ones are helpful, also. Some kids chew on shirts, toys, furniture, your finger, whatever eases the pain. SO... You'll be fine honey. Cool, huh? Wait until they get growing pains...

My son cut his first tooth at 3 months (no kidding) and my daughter cut hers at 10 months. It didn't seem to make any difference that they were from the same parents. :) I could not believe my son cut his first so early or that my daughter's came so late. All kids truly are different.

My son was about 7-8 months old when he got his first tooth....he is now 11 months old and has 7, the last time i checked, and i know that he is getting more, he is drooling like crazy....but all babies are different.......

My son got his first tooth at almost a year old and my daughter got hers at maybe 10 months. I have heard of babies being born with a tooth already showing but that is rare.Those first teeth showing are exciting! Enjoy!!

I have 4 kids and they all got their 1st tooth between 4-7 mths. The Dr told me it is normal for kids to get them between 4 moths all the way up to 12 mths. Some babies have been seen born with a tooth and some might not get theirs until 16mths. Those cases are rare, but still can happen. Congrats on the 1st one, and the many more to come!

Thijson was 2.5 months old (now 2 years old with all teeth). and Oliver was 3.5 months old(now 1 year old with 8 teeth)
