When did your baby start crawling? Talking?

I am a mother of 7 month old boy/girl twins and my boy started sitting, crawling, babbling and standing at 6 months and my little girl started sitting, crawling and babbling at 7 months. We don't even try to compare them because they are very different and have always done things at different times. My little boy seems to be doing everything first for now, but I'm sure that will change a million times.

My daughter sat up on her own at 4 months...started crawling at 7 months...started walking at 11 months and speaks in complete sentences and sings full songs now at 20 months. Her first words that were definitely words and not babbling were around 8 months, and included ball and dog. It seems to me girls really are generally ahead of boys in the speech department, though - and the boys catch up just fine later! My daughter's best buddy is a boy, and he actually started walking at 8 months (early!) and still, at 20 months, is just saying some individual words and not sentences yet. But he is a very bright kid, they all just seem to have their own timeline for everything :)

Glad to see all the variety since it illustrates how different "normal" is for each child. My 1st crawled around 7-8 months, walked at 1 yr and spoke really well by age 3 even though we are raising him tri-lingual. Now, the 2nd pulled up at 3 months, crawled around 5 months and walked later at 14 months but reverted to crawling at least until 18 months. Worried me but evidently this is not unusual. The speech with him was very late and he did not vocalize much, to the point that we had him evaluated for hearing and other speech issues. The speech therapist couldn't evaluate him because he just didn't make sounds... But he understood everything and the audiologist confirmed all was good mechanically with the little ears... So we had to be patient... He just took a long time and really didn't start getting short sentences (and I mean 2 words, maybe 3) until he was about 3. He is 5 now and speaks all 3 languages very very well. So, be ready for your child not to do things like the books say and like your friends' babies! The whole process is so fascinating.

My second crawled at 5 1/2 months. And sounds with meaning behind them at about eight months- for example, when she wants me to carry her and nurse her she'll crawl to me and say "mama."

My son didn't even roll over until 6 mos, never did start crawling, he walked around furniture for a while, but didn't start walking solo until 14 mos. He had a large head, in comparison to the rest of his body. My mom made the comment that you work so hard to get the first child to walk, then spend every moment trying to get them to sit still, and then don't end up pushing the 2nd one so much... :) My son said his first word @ 3mos. everyone says he has a large vocabulary & speaks really well for 3. But I wouldn't say he spoke in "complete" sentences near 1! They were broken sentences and I knew what he was talking about, but others had a hard time following. He was more easily understood after 2, and has much better sentence structure now.

My twins crawled around 9 months, they were two months early though so corrected age they were 7 months, the were talking full sentences by a year, and walking by corrected age 13 months. My youngest who was full term never crawled, she scooted and she didn't walk till she was 2, but she also talked full sentences b y a year.

Isabella started crawling at 6 months. She's not 'talking' per say, just lots of babbles and 'daddaaadaadaaa'. I'm still waiting for mama!

My son sat up at 4 months and has been nearly crawling around 4 months also. He's now almost 5 months and he is never in the same spot!

They are all different My eldest didn't crawl but was walking around furnature at 7Months, unadided at 9months next one walked at 1 next at 10 months and the youngest not until 14months. Speach all came at differnt ages as did potty training

well....like the others said there isn't really a set time for a baby to meet milestones...but my son started "army" crawling at about 7 1/2 months and just recently started crawling on him hands and knees, and he is now 8 1/2 months, and he also babbles alot but i haven't really heard any "real" words, just baby talk.....but when i talk to him he babbles back at me, so i know he understands whats going on....just more than likely not what i am sayin........and i have heard that girls start crawling sooner than boys so im sure she will be crawling in no time.......hope this helped....

No set rule on time line for milestones unfortunately...each child is different! My son never did crawl, he would just roll and walked on his 1st birthday...my daughter crawled around 7 months and walked at 9 months. Babbling is good and normal, both of my kids had about a 20-25 word vocabulary at a year old. Repetition is the key...I would spend hours on end, repeating just one word to them...ie...nose...dog...baby...mama...dada...cow...up...no no...thank you...bye bye, etc. Good luck, dont worry just enjoy every second and most of all dont compare!!

Sitting up starts between 5 and 6 months. Crawling starts between 6 and 8 months. Babies usually babble words and sounds they hear.. Keep talking to the baby. They usually speak in complete sentences at about 18 months.
