When do babys start eating the food in jars and what not?

Government guide lines are 4-6 months but if you have a hungry baby then a very small spoon of baby rice can be given after a bottle of milk. All three of my kids were on solids at three months as they were big babies. My youngest was on solids at 10 weeks as she would not drink milk (due to acute reflux) and the doctors suggested yoghurt and fromage frais.



Both my sons (now adults) were on baby rice at three months. It is very easy to tell if a baby is still hungry as they get a bit older as they tend to chew their fists and need feeding more often than usual.

Recommendations are between 4-6 mo's before starting solids. Hope this helps.

you don't have to do jars either you can just mash up veggies and fruit and feed it to them.

when they show signs of being ready like watching you eat, grabbing stuff and putting it in their mouth, lose their tongue thrust. you're supposed to offer it from 6 months but if they're not ready it's not a huge deal.

I am so sorry, Sweety! I absolutely would never be referring to a "Special Circumstance" with baby strokes and all... I hope you had support while going through such an ordeal.



So with that said your new baby should be able to finish his time out on formula til he is 1. There isn't any unforeseen circumstances in his case. Being patient will pay off in the end.

Ty i was not able to breastfeed unfortunatly i tried but then he went into the hospital at two weeks and it just wasnt possible the drs had mi son on cereal in the bottle at like 3 months which SHOCKED me but it was for good reason he was NEVER sleeping and ALWAYS crying but then wen that didnt work and nothn else did they finally had the neurologist look at his mri once again and he had multiple stroked at 2 weeks old so they figured out the locations and the ammount of strokes it was that causing all ths cuz parts are trying to work and just not doing it i took him off the cereal asap but ty for the advice it was much help

It is recommended to Breast feed or formula feed for the first year. But, technically so many people are so rushed that the medical field has approved the 6 month mark. This is because their stomachs are the size of their own fist and they need the proper nutrition. The baby food out of jars is mostly for fun if trying to introduce them before age one. Their digestive tract is still not quite 100% developed until age 1. So, I hope the was useful for you.

I nursed all 3 of my sons til they were 1. I always had people around me who tried to sway me to start with the whole cereal in the bottle and giving them jar food. I had to stick to my guns. It's hard sometimes to stand up to family. But in the end Where are they when or if my kid gets sick because of what THEY pressured me into. It will always fall on me. So, being educated on the new stuff is always the better way to go. Moms and in laws always think they know best, but what they know is OLD news. Good luck :)
