When I potty trained my daughter, we went cold turkey on diapers. She helped me throw them all in the trash and I never used pull-ups. I tested the waters a few times by having her sleep on the floor (I made it fun by calling it a camp out) with a plastic garbage bag underneath the quilt she slept on. Once I knew she could make it through the night, she slept in her own bed. Good luck!

Hi Danielle, My husband and i didn't stop putting on diapers until almost 6 months after she was potty trained. The reason being is that even though she is not peeing her bladder might not be strong enough. I would wait.

Try not to give your child anything to drink 1 hour before bedtime. Another way to know is if your child can make it during a nap without wetting a diaper. If so then your child is ready.

Another hint is put the underwear on under a pull-up/diaper so it doesn't make a mess but they can tell if they are wet and feels like they do while they are wearing big kid pants.

I think it is different for everyone. My oldest was dry by 2. THe youngest stopped peeing at night around 2 years 3 mos. My sister was 7 because she couldn't feel when she had to go due to thicker than usual bladder walls.

Make them go potty rigt before going to sleep. And if they get troght the night without having a wet diaper then they are ready to go without.
