we started it with our son at only a week old. The doctor recommended it because he would spit up so we would keep him up right for an hour like they said and than we would put him down on his stomach. He lifted his head at 6 weeks.

Start as early as you want. I had my daughter on her belly from only a couple weeks old. As long as you are there to watch them then its fine.

I say almost all their time should be on their tummy! I made the mistake of laying my son on his back (to sleep) for the first few months, and it created some big problems! He now sees a cranial sacral doctor to help "mold" his flat-back-of-the-head to a normal shape. But, of course, ask your doctor, because now there's a lot of nonsense talk about SIDS. So, just giving my opinion! =)

I started right away so my son wouldn't despise it later. You can't keep them on their tummy too much at first and you always have to be right there next to them in case their face is buried and they can't figure out how to get free. Good luck!

My son HATED tummy time he would scream his head off , we tried since we brought him home , I thought he would never want to lie on his tummy , but then one day around 6 months he rolled over and loved it and now spends more time on his tummy then back, so start it whenever , but if your baby isnt a fan don't worry when they are ready they will do it on their own

When you feel comfortable doing it. I started my son early, like a few weeks old. The doctor said it was fine as long as I was right there with him. Now at 7 and 1/2 months old, he's strong as an ox.

we started tummy time as soon as we brought Sophia home. I find the easiest way for her to enjoy it is to have her lie on mine or my husband's chest. she picks her head up to look at us, we make faces at her to keep her interested.

I remember going to the doctors for my sons like 2 week checkup... Actually I think it was like when he was 4 or 5 days old. The doctor told me to start giving him tummy time then... you just have to watch them the whole time in the very beginning. And not very long at first. But you can always call and ask your doctor what they recommend!!

Hi Sabrina. You can start tummy time as early as you like. We started when our bub was only 1 month old obviously supervising him and picking him up when he wasn't comfortable, etc. He has always loved being on his tummy though so we would put him on his tummy for short periods a few times a day. Your bub will tell you if they aren't ready to have a lot of tummy time but short little bursts are good for them.

as soon as you bring them home from the hospital, its fine, at that age their only going to like it for about 2-5mins, and then get tired with it but if you put them on their tummy every day for that long at that age, then more than likely their not going to hate tummy time as the get older.

You can pretty much start tummy time when they can hold there head up. My son loves to be on his tummy, he actually made that choice to start cuz he just rolled right over. He was about 3-4 months maybe. He even sleeps on his tummy which i know they say babies shouldn't but what he does after i put him to bed is up to him. He is 8 months now and still to be on his tummy.
