My health visitor has said that your baby can have full fat cows milk with the weetabix/cereal at 6 months but to have the milk on its own as a drink to wait till 1year. I will be waiting till my son is 1 to give him cows milk.

at 1 year they can have cows milk. They recommend Whole milk from 1-2. I recently switched our son to skim milk at about 20 months (He eats about as much as we do!) as he is a super eater (And they say it's OK once they are eating table food well).
At a year you should stop formula and switch to Whole (full fat) milk. Don't mix things into the milk, they eat other foods for that, you can add milk to other stuff. You should also be feeding your child at least 3 regular meals and 1-2 snacks between meals.
Once your child is eating 3 meals and 2 snacks very well (Usually between 1 1/2 - 2 years) then you can switch to skim or other low-fat milk.
The reason they want you to do full fat milk at first is they need the fat as they aren't eating the best YET.

At year one you switch to Whole Milk, then by age 2 they should be on 2%. If you have trouble switching the bottle(formula) for the milk, do 1/2 & 1/2. Half formula and half Whole milk for the first couple weeks. I just threw away all the bottles and switched to sippies immediately and my daughter did fine at One years old.

definately do not start cow's milk until 12 months, and it's usually recommended to start with homoganized milk (unless your dr tells you otherwise) . you can start them by just mixing their bottles half and half with formula and gradually reduce the formula in them to all milk...some people don't introduce them gradually and just switch, sometimes that can be hard on your little one's tummy though. good luck!

You shouldn't start cow's milk until 1 year. Then it should be whole milk until at least 2. They need the extra fat for brain development. You can start by mixing 1/2 formula. 1/2 cow's milk, until your baby gets used to it, then gradually reduce the formula in it until it is just cow's milk.
