Do it, your fears are choking or allergic reaction. However, you'll be watching him until you know he's okay and he should be seated when eating. (i'm sure you know that) and you can monitor the reaction for allergies if you want. Cheerios are good too.
Have fun!!!

I started givin my daughter gerber puffs and at about 8 months. She almost 10 months now and is pretty much eating all table food. It will take him a little time to get use to it, just watch him.

That does help.  I have tried the dissolvable fruit things...they're so yummy.  I think I'm going to buy him some and see what he thinks :)

Depends on what you're feeding him and your baby. You can probably start feeding him things like rice or cheese sticks. For some food types, it is best to wait until he has teeth to chew. Their gums are so hard that they can chew soft foods even without teeth.

And I think Gerber first food are different than table food. For table food, food you eat, I would wait till the teeth come in or ask your doctor.
Hope this helps some.

I'd go for it, just watch him. Have you tried them??, they melt in your mouth. Try Gerber Yogurt melts too. My son is 22 months old now and I think started those when he was about that age. He'll love them=) And they're not bad for him either.

I waited to give my baby rice rusks when she got her two first teeth.  If the puffs disolve easily then I would try but I'd watch closely to make sure he doesn't choke.  That was my concern when I first gave her cookies and rusks.

Personally Id talk to his doctor first- my daughter has been eating puffs since December and she just hit 9 months. She also has 6 teeth already! My doctor encouraged me to let her start finger foods but now that she has she always wants to feed herself!
