When & how do you teach your child to use spoons?

My kids grabbed the spoon out of my hand when I was spoon feeding them. Give them a spoon to hold and wave around while you feed them with 'your' spoon - everything goes in their mouth anyway, so just let nature take it's course. Eventually some food will get into the mouth along with the spoon. Take cover!

As soon as you start giving finger foods you should put a baby spoon and fork with the food and just leave them to it. There is no teaching they will learn themselves when they are ready. Interesting enough most things when babys under 1 year old is just a matter of offering the situation so they can learn from it. Don't worry so much about how or when to teach your child. They will learn it all on their own... instead spend that time lovin and enjoying them. :)

once you give them table food you give them utensiles to eat with. they may not always use them but it will help them get used to it. the best way to teach them how to use it is by example: "look at mommy eat with her spoon" kids love to imitate, especially with mom :)
