Yogurt can be introduced as one of your little ones first solids. and cheese can be introduced early as well. the reason is because the lactose which is the sugar that is difficult to digest, is partially broken down by the good bacteria that are present in yogurt and age cheese.

"Is it that way for every thing dairy?" No.
Starting at 6 months of age, you may give your child yogurt and or cheese.
The lactose is broken down with the culturing of the yogurt or cheese and milk proteins are either semi-removed or limited. The culturing makes yogurt and cheese easier to digest.
You can slowly introduce whole milk to your baby at around 10-11 months of age with your childs pediatricians' CONSENT. Giving milk before age one is a hot topic for some people so be careful and always seek advice from a professional.

They can have cheese at 8 months, yogurt (baby yogurt, with no sugar) from 6 months and then milk at 12 months. My daughter is 9 months, I give her a tiny bit of cow's milk here and there, usually in cooking.
