My son is 8 months old and this is what his feeding schedule is right now..

7am-7oz expressed bm

730-3tbsp rice cereal, 1/2 jar fruit 1oz juice with 2oz water

11am-7oz expressed bm

3pm-7oz expressed bm

645pm-3tbsp oatmeal, 1/2 jar veggies, 1/2 jar meat 1oz juice with 2oz water

8pm-71/2 oz formula

When do I need to add a 3rd Meal in? Not bottle, but an actual meal. Also, is there anything that I am not giving him that I should be. I let him eat Gerber graduates soft crunchies and yogart bites. He also nibbles on my food during the day when I eat. Should he still be on only baby food, or should I start him on "big people food" soon.... He is also eating stage 2 foods still, when do I start stage 3 foods (and when I do, do I still continue on 1/2 jar servings??)

Any suggestions would be awesome!!!

I also have an 8 month old and I just started giving him a third meal. He breast feeds on demand throughout the day but he has a meal of fruit (sometimes baby food, sometimes fresh) and cherios at 9:30am, then he has lunch around 2:30...He eats normal table food, he really likes whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce, bread, chicken noodle soup, blueberries, strawberries blackberries, I just started also giving him horizon yogurt blends (which he loves)--then he has dinner at around 7--I usually try to give him a balanced dinner with a carb, meat, fruit and veg... he prob. breastfeeds about 4 or 5 times a day-- both sides ( I am guessing 7 or so oz?) I have found that he is happier and takes a longer afternoon nap since introducing the 3rd meal...hope this helps (sorry for the novel)

you can definitely start on 3rd meal and add some yogurt into his diet and then if you want, you can cut out the formula by switching cereal to night time (maybe 30 mins or so before he goes to bed) and then giving him milk afterwards and it should do the trick of keeping him happy throughout the night.

I use the formula at night bc it lasts longer and keeps him happy all nite, where as when I was giving BM at night, he would wake up to eat. I only express on the days that I work (4 days a week), he is breast fed with me on the days that I am off.

You can start the third meal now. If he is doing well on the stage 2s go ahead and start 3s. My children were all on actual table food by 9months. But with the Gerber graduates you can start them around 9 months and it's almost like giving table food. If he is going good with the finger foods you can give him any of the choices of Gerber (or generic name) fingerfoods. I was just curious why you express the bm and then use formula at night?
