My kids pediatrician always said that a little bit in the bottle is ok when the baby is old enough to sit up and hold his head up on his own. Five weeks definetly isn't old enough.

Never. Solid food should be spoon fed to babies no sooner than 4 months of age, 6 is more widely recommended.

i have put a LITTLE cereal in my daughter bottle when she was 3 months old. people do not like to suggest it, but it didn't harm my children... it helped them, they always woke up hungry 1-2 hrs later at night... when i added a half a tbsp of cereal to a 6oz bottle she didn't wake up until 5am for her breakfast. I ONLY added it to her night time bottles.

Never do it! Solids should not be introduced till 5 or 6 months and when you do it should never be in a bottle.
