I have a 10 month old, and he is still eating baby food. I have tried giving him some table food, but he just gags. When is the right time to stop buying the baby food and going to big boy food?

I started adding our food to my sons baby food. Like mashed pumpkin to his baby pumpkin. or sit him on your lap when you are eating and let him pick at your food. Then he will think he is a big boy my second son loved that.

You have to start him off on soft table foods (i.e. apple sauce, mash potatos, soft veggies, etc.). He has to get use to the texture and having to choo his food. You might have to mash it up for him or cut it really small.

Ohh my girl was the same, she started having what we have at 15 months. Just offer toast and little bits of your tea, he will get there when he ready. Make a real big fuss when him trys something new. I give my girl the baby vegs and a little bit of meat next to it and slowly she is eating more n more of it!

You offer it to you kid when ever every kid is different. Try soft foods the are similar to baby food like mashed potatos. That was my daughters favorite. Everything else you can smash yourself or blend it. Just keep in mind that if you feed him something that we as grown up don't like to eat ourselves you can expect him too. So try things that taste good like fruit!!! Good luck!!

I agree with the other moms, every child is different. One of my sons started eating table food at 3 1/2 - 4 mos, but my daughter on the other hand was closer to 10-11 mos. Continue giving the baby food and gradually introduce table food like the mashed fruits and veggies. Finding a food that he really likes and starting with that should make it alot easier. I also tried mixing the fruits in with the baby cereal or oatmeal, they loved that! I just made it a little thicker as time went on (depending on when the child is ready, you will know)

When he stops gagging on it. You just have to keep trying until he's ready. My son started about 10 months on toast and rice cakes.

My boy has been eating table food since 4 months old. You start by purifying or just mashing veggies like pumpkin, carrots and potatos so his stomach gets used to it. but still keep him on the baby porridge for a while.

If you make oatmeal or rice cereal, make it thicker so he has to push it to the back to swallow it. You can give baked plain or sweet potato, but you really have to wait till he's ready. My 8 1/2 month old still prefers the stage 2 jars but I give her the stage 3's every couple of days and at dinner time when she's the hungriest. I plan to stick with the stage 3's for a bit till she has more teeth then work in the softer foods. Her favorite food is banana so I mashed some up and started with that. She likes it so much she tries to figure out how to chew it. It helped introduce her to table food.

Just keep offering food he seems interested in. Try smashing avocados, bananas, refried beans, fruits
