When will he start sleeping through!?

Thanks for all ur help everyone... i have alot of people around me with newborns and i guess i just worry, why is there baby doing it and not mine? But your right, the are all different and im sure he'll work it out in his own time. :)

a full night of sleep is possible at 12 weeks!!!! BOTH of my girls slept through the night (8 hours) at 8-9 weeks. (10-12 hours of sleep can happen between 12-15 weeks) the secret it a flexible scheduel and routine. Start with the first feeding of the day. make it at a specific time every day. ( my girls start their day at 8am) Set a time that works for you. start with feeding your baby then have wake time where you play with your baby, let them play on a mat, etc. when thair ready put them down for a nap. repeat every 3-4 hours until evening. have a bedtime routine. (i put my girls into their pjs before their last feeding at 8pm) feed you baby then put them to bed without any awake/play time. this will help them establish that night is sleep time. then let your baby wake you up to eat. remember every little noise coming from the crib is NOT a sign that they need to eat. my youngest would wake up crying just because she could. she didn't need to eat just a little comfort. crying does not hurt them. hope this helps. this came out of the book "On Becoming Baby Wise" written by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam. this book helped me as a first time mom (and a second time mom)

Are you breast or bottle feeding? I know with my daughter, as soon as I weaned her from the breast (6 months) and was able to make sure she was getting all she needed during the day she began sleeping 8-10 hours thru the night! I think it's pretty normal for a breastfed baby to be waking that often, especially at only 12 weeks.....give it time!

my daughter started sleeping through at two months. my cousin's daughter started at four months. it all depends on the baby. what i did to help her get on a schedual is to try to keep her awake as much as possible when it was light outside then when it got dark i layed her down to go to sleep. hard to do with a newborn..but she still got all of her recommended naps and stuff. atleast four a day at first..now she takes two..sometimes one..and sleeps from 9 or 10pm to 8am. so don't lose hope!! it'll happen eventually.

i think u have have a while before he learns to sleep through unless u planning to sleep train him when his aliitle bit older

My first woke every 2 1/2 hours for the first 3 months, then from there, every 3 hours until she was 6 months old and didn't sleep for 8 hours straight until she was almost 9 months. My son who is 2 1/2 months old has been sleeping through 6-8 hours all of this week so far. Every baby is different and how often they need to eat depends on their little growing bodies and what they need so hang in there, 5 hours is good for now. Just feed him and try to get him back to sleep so you can get some sleep too.

At 12 weeks old, a 5 hour stretch is great! At 12 weeks, sleeping "through" the night does not mean 10 hours. Although it seems like an eternity when you are sleep deprived, at 12 weeks he is just a teeny, tiny baby still totally dependent on you for everything. It sounds like he is doing just fine.



Just respond to his needs. At this point, it's all about the bond; building your baby's trust and security.



Over the next 1-2 years, he will go through so many ups and downs with his sleep. He'll experience growth spurts, teething, separation anxiety, dreams, etc. All of which will cause disruptions to the routine. Give him plenty of patience and time.
