hi i would say finding a pediatrician who does do it or having it done with an actual needle like the tattoo parlors( and yes that does sound a little scary for a child ) ,but not to scare you but anyone getting their ears pierced with a gun can be dangerous because they are very hard to completly sterilize due to having so many moving parts.I have heard that it can take more than a week to sterilize them, and alot of places do not take the time to do it properly.

Hi Nicole,

I had my daughter's ears peirced by the family doctor. Medicare covers and possible einfections that may happen. Her ears were done at 2 months of age.

I had my daughters ears pierced last month (@ 3months of age). They used sterilized earrings in a piercing container that is never opened until the gun pieces her ears. She hasn't had any problems with them. They look adorable! She screamed for less than a minute..then it was like nothing ever happened! no soreness at all.

There's no place better/worse to go, I would just suggest that you find somewhere that will do both ears at the same time.

Be careful though. Not trying to scare you but I pierced my 7yr olds daughters ears and she had a really bad reaction to the earings. I would definately suggest you go with earring only 14k gold or more. We even tried the sensitive ears earrings with no luck. So instead now she just wears clip ons.

Not sure where you are located, I'm in Canada and I have had all 3 of my daughters ears done at Clare's, with no problems and they are 13, 11 and almost 3. they are located at the malls. Ardene's also does ear piercing as well and they are at the mall as well. HTH.

I'm from the NorthShore and I went to the Saugus mall ... it wasn't a spur of the moment thing ... my mother-in-law and I planned on getting them done ... My daughter was between 3 and 6 months the date fails me now ... but they marked it and asked if we wanted them done at once or after the other ... we choose after the other cause didn't want people crowding her like an injured animal! But piercing pagoda was great! My friend got her daughters done at Clairs and they tag teamed her and the holes were not even so and then she was terified!

I would find some physician...Most of the current places are either tattoo shops or places like piercing pagoda. the tatto artists use actual needles and disenfectant...That may be bit much for a lillte one....I would stick to finding a dr.

Be sure to choose somewhere that will do both at the same time, otherwise you might not get the second one in. Also, get them to mark them, and approve the location on the lobe before you do the deed!

I took her to the mall...I do not remember the store name....it is the one where they sell just girls stuff (jewerly, etc) Make sure they sanitize the gun very well. They should do it in front of you and you should be free tohave your input...I did with mine. The only thing is that you must buy the earings from them. I had earings for her, and still had to buy theirs. She will look beautiful. Mine does!
