My husband was on a plane back home from Japan when I went into labor. My mom was there as my stand in husband, my grandmother and aunt left work to be there, my sister in law came to tape the birth for my husband and one of my best friends was there for support. It was strange to have that many people in there, but it was nice to have some people to talk to between contractions. After a certain point, you just don't care that your hoo-haa is on display lol

At my birth was my auntie (not blood related but has known me 4 over 15 yrs) and she is also a godmother to my son. I couldn't have chose a better person to be at my birth as she was very supportive throughout my pregnancy, I didn't want the father of my son there as we had fell out when I was 5 months pregnant and couldn't face being let down when I would have needed him the most so he didn't know I had Jy until the next day! I believe that giving birth can be stressful enough without having the wrong support there making you feel uneasy or tense, it is a magical moment so you should share it with the person or people you want to share that moment with...

My husband, both of my parents, and my husband's Dad. Of course doctors and nurses. I even had two nurses who were getting their hands on hours to become L&D nurses.

Originally it was supposed to be my fiancee and my mom. But my mom had a Dr's appointment at Noon and my daughter was born 21 minutes later. So it was just myself and my fiancee and I wouldn't change that for the world. I only had hard labor for 15 minutes and pushed for 15 minutes. Hopefully we will have a second baby in the next 5 years and again it will just be myself and my fiancee.

My sister was my coach, the dad was there out in the waiting room my brother his wife, my dad was there but left when my sis got there.

For my daughter it was my fiance and my mom. The original plan was just my fiance, but I was having lots of complications and about to kill my young, new to the field nurse who didn't know what she was doing and my mom was more help in calming me down and getting me what I needed from another nurse.
For my son it was my fiance, my mom, my dad, and my brother (he didn't watch the actual birth, just stood in the corner to himself, but wanted to be there for the immediate arrival and pictures) My labor with my son was easy and quick (I had nothing to focus on he just came into the world and almost beat the doctor) and after everyone and their dog has seen what you got going on down there during my first delivery I really wasn't embarrassed by much.

I was really shy about that kind of thing so I only wanted my boyfriend there but I told my mom I wanted her at the hospital just not in the room.. But when we got there- I really didn't care! My mom stayed in the room and my boyfriend was there. My dad was there for a while to hang out (not while delivering). depends on whether you want drugs or not!! If the answer is no then I wouldn't recomend to many people- they would probably drive you nuts

In the waiting room, my entire family(aunts, uncles, cousins etc.) In the room while I was labouring, my husband, my mom and my stepmom! When I had to have a c section just my husband was allowed. I had twins and it was a really big event for my family... I didn't mind the people though, it distracted me from the pain!

I went into labor 4 weeks early and had a planned c-section. My water broke around 2 in the morning and my husband was working nights at the time and was home. I had to have an emergency c-section and he was the only one with me and I'm glad he was the only one with me. It was such a special moment for us to share as new parents. I wouldn't change a single thing about it.

With my second, my husband, and my best friend Diane

With my first son I had my Husband, Mom, Sister,my Mother-in-law. my Sister-in-law, 2 Aunts, 2 cousins, 2 close friends, plus my midwife and the nurses.
With my second birth I had twins, and even though I didn't have a C-section I had to deliver in the OR and only my husband and mother could be present. But, while I was in labor in the other room, I had pretty much the same people minus a couple...
I loved having a crowd. It helped me get through the labor

for my daughter i had my partner and his mum my mum and my aunty docotors and midwifes was worried about wat my mother in law would think of seein me in there but it turned out i was in so much pain i took all my clothes off and walked up and down with nothing on and i said to her im so sorry but im in too much pain to care

Most of my family was there, but at the actual birth (natural) my sister and my husband were with me in the delivery room. My sister is one of the closest friends in my life and I'm so glad I had her part of her niece's birth. Especially since there was a 3 year period where she was dealing with the possibility of infertility.

only my husband. i had some friends who had their entire family with them, but for us it was a moment we wanted to have just for us, then we shared it with family.

My husband and my mother-in-law were there. I have a great mom-in-law and I really wanted someone in the room who had been through it before. My mom lives far away and I didn't want her in the room because she and I butt heads a lot and I didn't want to have to worry about it at that moment. My best friend wanted to come but I went into labor at 9 pm and she couldn't get a plane until the morning and our son was born at 1:30 am.

Something to think about in this situation is if you want photos or a video of the birth. For my first birth my mom, my husband and my mother in law were in the room. I didn't want a video, but I wanted pictures. I have some of the most beautiful pictures, I even have a picture of him taking his first breath!, and pictures of my husband cutting the umbilical cord. Im so glad I have those pictures! For my second birth it was just me and my husband. And now Im so mad I had it that way! I have no pictures of my second son! By the time the cord was cut and he was clean and laying in my arms again I remembered the camera! If someone else had been in the room with us they could have been in charge of the camera! Just something to think about! You don't want to take the chance of relying on a nurse to take photos, you never know how busy they will be.

I wanted my mum and my husband's mum at my birth, along with my hubby. I was really dissappointed when neither of them came. I'm really hurt that my mum who only lives 30 min away chose not to come, telling me it was too intimate, then a few months later was at the birth of my brothers child!

First birth: my mom (not the best idea) and my husband.
My second: my husband, my sister, and my 3-year-old. It was a home birth with a midwife and an assistant. My 3-year-old talks about her sister's birth all the time, it was really special that she could be there :)

when i had my daughter my boyfriend came with me and we met my mom at the hospital. I had called my dad just to tell him, he wasn't home he was at work and when he heard he rushed over. Worst person to have there...making jokes trying to get involved... anyway right before i had my daughter my bf stepped out to see his friends who were in the lobby... i was so mad at him he missed his daughters birth his friends were more important!

With 35 hours of labor I had a lot of visitors. But when I was rushed in for an emergency c-section it was just my husband and my brother Joe who filmed (descreetly). LOL, all that the DVD showed was a shot of my head and then the doctor pulling my son out of a tent of blue blankets.

I love her and she was there for both births and so was my hubby

My husband and my doula were there, as well as my doctor and a nurse. I did not invite any family members, NOR did we even tell them that we were in labor! Just made things less stressful without a bunch of people calling constantly asking "did you have it yet? did you have it yet?" etc.

With all my births I didn't get who i wanted in there with my first I just wanted my partner and mum but ended up having dad there as well with my second I wanted just my partner and a friend it ended up being my partner, my friend and her mum which in a way was good as my mother had passed on by then so it was like my friends mum was mum and with my last I wanted just my partner but ended up having very close friends of ours there though her husband was kicked up before i actually gave birth.
