It seems like a small jesture but has a big affect. You may be expecting some thing that he doesnt even think about. Have you talked to him about it? To be expected to say "thank you" makes a person not want to say it. The best advice I could give is to talk to your husband. Tell him that you love doing extra stuff for him to make his life simplier. That by saying "thank you" he is showing you that he realizes that he is lucky to have such a caring wife.

In that case, I am totally with Michelle. If he can't say thank you, don't do it. Sorry, but if he is demanding thanks from you, he can return in kind.

But let's be really honest, how genuine is the thanks if either side feels the need to demand it, or bargain for it? It's a bit hollow if that is the case - the thank you doesn't mean anything anyway.

Because he was never taught how to use his manners. If he doesn't use his manners then treat him like a child and don't do anything for him until he say please and thank you. I had to do that with my ex husband.
My reasoning was that if we were trying to teach the children to use their manners then we had lead by example.

I have to say thank you for everything, if he makes coffee, puts out my toothbrush, brings home the pay cheque, takes us out for dinner - is this a normal thing that women must say thank you but men never do?

He never says thank you ever and only with me. Its a control thing. So I can make him coffee, give him lunch, pack up his gym stuff and he just expects it. The doctor says its to make himself feel more important than me, I just feel that what I do then is irrelevant and unappreciated.

Thank you for what? Never says thank you for every little thing you do? Or never says thank you ever? A bit more info would be helpful.
