I think it is to do with the fact that it is a processed meat. Remember how processed meats are generally off the menu for pregnant women? Same thing with babies. Processed meats are high on the list for listeria contamination, which equates to food poinsoning, and very young children are more susceptible. They also contain additives that are not suitable for young children.

Actually, ham was the first pureed meat my daughter had, and it remains her favorite (she's 10 months). Not surprised, since I love it as well! She's had no trouble with digesting it, either.

I've bought baby food with ham before - Beechnut Ham and Pineapple dinner and Country Breakfast with ham.

Do you eat ham? If so, give your child some too. Give them lots of variety. Read article that it is this over cautious attitude that is actually causing food allergies.

Not sure but I often made my babies our dinners & blended them (the dinners, not the babies lol!) & if we had pork so did our little ones..it hasnt done them any harm, they are now 14~25 years old!! x

Oh really... haha..I know is sounds gross, I am sure it looks groos! I made split pea soup last night and my husband and I were wondering if our son can have ham. I truly haven't seen anything with pig meat in the baby food section in the store

Ashley is right, my daughter bought her babyfood at Walmart and she always bought ham mixed with some kind of fruit.

it should be one of the last meats you introduce as ham and other pork products can be a little difficult for tiny tummies to digest.

I just bought a ham dinner one from Beachtree and I think Gerber has a ham and gravy..I haven't tried my baby on either, so I don't know if it something that a baby is going to like or not, but I know they do make them..I got mine from Kroger.

I've seen a few things with ham in it from Gerber. I normally see them at walmart.

I actually used to give Connor Ham Dinner by either Beachtree or Gerber, I believe. Country Breakfast has ham too. So I don't think it's that they can't eat it, it's maybe just not popular.
