Often pediatricians advise the use of grape juice or pear juice for consitpation in infants. So while babies do not "need" fruit juice nutritionally, it's often a better short term solution than harsher laxatives.

Thank you to everyone that replied....I have stopped givin her the juice....I always gave her the baby juice anyways whuich they said doesnt always need diluted....but it seems to be clearin up a lil but still there....

For infants, juice isn't necessary. However, if you want to give them a change from formula/ breast milk, only put in enough juice to color the water, or give straight water. As for the rash, it sounds like it could be a yeast infection. All that is needed for that is over the counter antifungal cream, such as Lotrimin, or any generic form of it. Any athlete's foot cream will work. Simpy apply that 3- 4 times a day instead of the desitin. When changing her, use warm damp rags, the chemicals in baby wipes can hurt her. If you can, let her air out a little during changing, as bacteria and yeast love dark, warm, damp areas to grow. If it still doesn't start to clear up within a few days, have her checked out by her pediatrician. Also, I have found that Bordeaux Butt Paste works better than desitin. I just finished fighting a yeast infection in my 20 month old son. I hope this helps! Tanya, LPN

If the red dots aren't going away call your pediatrician. The dots may be a sign of a yeast infection. It happened to my son and I didn't even know boys could get them!

I agree that Juice is unnecessary.  It can easily cause rashes and babies don;t need it.  the sugar in it is not good for the teeth and it has alot of unnecessary calories.  If you insist on giving juice, dilute it half with water and half with juice.  Your kids wont know the difference and they will still get the sweet flavor.  But seriously, if it is causing a  rash and diareah, just stop giving it to them.

yes apple juice will give rashes. Remeber to dilute the juice. Keep putting destin on and if it is'nt clear in a few day call dr. you may need meds.

Yes my daughters both got rashes from apple sauce along with juice.  Did you mix it hwith half water too.  I usually give them white grape juice.  I once read that white grape juice is the easiest juice for babies to digest.

My daughter would get a rash if she drank juice or ate blueberries but she also got diarrhea and that's what ultimately caused the rash. Could be yeast infection. I would definitely take her to the pediatrician if it doesn't clear up quickly like a diaper rash would. My daughter had quite a few of them too when she was a baby. They are much harder to heal than a diaper rash. Going Diaper free for a day or two helped too.

i had problem giving 3 of my kids juice when they were babies.. the acid in it does cause them to get a rash. I didnt give them juice till they were potty trained. And i am not going to give juice to my son either.. and the doc said not to anyways, its wasted calories..that the baby doesnt need.

That is possible, I've had it happen before is can also cause diahrea(sp?)... Expecially when the child isn't use to having it everyday!!!
