It is actually proven that it's easier to get pregnant immediately coming off of birth control pills. (Something to do with your hormone levels.) The only reason "they" (those mysterious experts out there) recommend being off the pill a few months before trying is to more accurately calculate your due date, since they'll be able to better tell when you conceived once you've had a few menstrual cycles.

However, if this would help in getting pregnant, an early ultrasound can detect your due date even more accurately than counting back in your menstrual cycle.

I actually have a friend who just found out she was pregnant- accidentally, surprise!- after being off of birth control for just a few weeks.

Here are some facts:

Roughly 50% of women who intend to get pregnant after stopping the pill will become pregnant within the next three cycles. (http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/birth-...)

If you were taking birth control pills, you may begin to ovulate as quickly as two weeks after discontinuing the pill. (http://www.justmommies.com/articles/gett...)

One of the factors that will determine how long it will take for you ovulation to return to normal is how regular your ovulation was prior to birth control. If you were extremely regular you will likely return to that state more rapidly than someone who had irregular ovulation. Likewise, the more regular your ovulation the easier it is to get pregnant. (http://babymed.com/Blog/Blog.aspx?180)

...more than 90% of pill-users become pregnant within a year of coming off the pill.... If you are trying to get pregnant after using the pill, here are some tips that may help you improve your chances.

* Eat as nutritiously as possible.
* Begin taking folic acid supplements.
* Quit smoking.
* Limit your intake of alcohol.
* Try to manage your stress.

Hope this helps!

When my husband and I were trying to concieve my doctor told me to go off the pill for 3 months to get it out of my system.... and behold exactly 3 months of being off the pill I got pregnant.
Birth control stops your egg from decending down the folopian tube so I can't see how it would make it easier.... it would prevent hence the name Birth Control.

My husband and i have been trying for a long time now to fall pregnant and i have followed all the advice given with no luck yet. The best thing i can say if just enjoy the process and don't stress yourself out about it. I have had several months where i am late for my period and you do the test and it's negative. It will happen at the right time for you and it doesn't matter what else is going on in your life........ Just don't stress...

Planning pregnancy can be tricky, I have heard that it can take several months to conceive after being off of birth control, so I stopped the pill in hopes to conceive in 3-4 months. Alas, my oldest was conceived within in a month after stopping birth control. I was using the nuva ring for my second child and she was conceived the first month.

Good job starting the folic acid. Just keep in mind that children never quite do what you want, even when it comes to conception. So, just relax and enjoy the process. If you are in a situation where you can't get pregnant right now (ie school, job wedding), then I would wait to stop birthcontrol until after, or move to a less systemic type.

I was off the pill for 4 months both times before I got PG. I think it needs to get out of your system.

Actually, being on birth control can make it more difficult to conceive. Many times, women who have been on the pill, take a little longer to get pregnant. The longer you are on the pill, the longer it can take you to get pregnant. Granted, everyone's body does work differently. I was told by my doctor that it normally takes about 2-3 months for your body to get back on "normal" track after taking the pill.

Depends if you want to conceive o not i mean are you having protected r unprotected sex..
but alot of girls dont realize that while being on the pill you shouldn't be on citrus acids or the pill will not work..
Where as i was having protected sex and was on the pill and got pregant but with out realising i had miscarried..

I've never heard that.  In fact I heard to stop birth control for a few months prior to trying to conceive.
