Winter Time HELP!!

Ok, I live in Wisconsin where winters can be a little cold and snowy for a few months. We recently had our first snow fall (10-12 in) and have found it very difficult to take our son outside. Since he hasn't been going to the park every day he's starting to act out, screaming, kicking, punching, etc. Hes only 19 months. We did take him out right after it snowed, but he had a hard time even walking around in the snow, and now since it's gotten cold the mounds of snow are covered in a layer of ice making it not so fun for a 19 month old to try to move around on them.

So, my question is, for those of you who live in areas where winters get a lot of snow and stuff (Or I guess anyone with suggestions), what do you do with your kids during the day instead of bringing them to the park? How can I get my son some outdoor toddler friendly activities? Or even other things you have done to compensate. He has a LOT of energy and needs to get rid of it in a useful way.

We live in Wyoming and it has been in the negatives here a lot lately so we have been building forts with tubs and blankets! He loves it! He also has lots of energy that he has to use! Maybe try dancing turning on some toddler tunes and get him to dance and Jump!

last year we were in arkansas then our son was 2 and it was icy almost the whole winter and stayed about 7 degrees so i let him make forts out of boxes and sheets and we played hide and seek....only i would hide his animals and he would look for them...i would make him run from one side to another and back until he couldnt do anymore and it really just chilled him out..when we did go outside he would sit in his little car and i would slide it around the ice and he would just walk and fall everywhere and i just kept laughing so he thought it was funny too

Thanks, we don't really have any extra boxes, but maybe we can find something like that.  Maybe we can make him run from one side of the house to the other a little.  My husband would throw a ball and he's go get it, but it only works for so long.  We do have a sled for him, but he usually wants to get out and move around so it only works for a little bit.  Once the snow melts from this storm (which I'm starting to feel will never happen), then we'll be able to talk walks again to help.
