My daughter is three years old, She had her swine flu vaccination last week, after they had done it my daughter asked me when they were going to do it, she didnt feel a thing. When she went to bed that night she turned over and leaned on her arm in her sleep and she woke up a little tearful and couldnt understand why it was a bit sore, I explained that it was alittle tender because of her injection and she went straight back to sleep. The next day she was fine, no side affects what so ever. I feel that any child should be vaccinated against swine flu, for the simple reason as parents we should protect our children against any potential harm. Hopefully your child will never have to be admitted to hospital with anything but if they do then there is the biggest reason to protect your children, protection from leaving the hospital with something other than what they went in for. Peace of mind and the knowledge that your child is protected.

@ Lisa, yes, I've had my children vaccinated with the regular ones. With the reaction that my children had to the regular flu shot (high fevers and my son had an upset stomach) my pediatrician didn't push the swine flu one.

I had a talk with my pediatrician. My children (2 and 10 months) aren't in daycare as I am the stay at home mom. None of the family members come into contact with anyone who travels to Mexico. The risk of my children getting the swine flu is small. When my children had the regular flu vaccine, they got really sick and I was not going to put them through that again if I didn't have to. Doc said it was fine because they're home with me all day.
A lot of pediatricians push the vaccine. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that works with me in addressing concerns.
If your children are in daycare or are in school, you should really consider in getting it. If they're home with you, go with your gut. YOU are their mother. No one else.

No. You should not give a child this vaccine. It has not had any conclusive testing as yet and as such the government and NHS are using your children as guinea pigs and playing Russian Roulette with their health.
If you have any doubts you should read the list of CRAP that they put in it. The person who created it has said that it is just an experiment!

Please please please don't spread the thermisol/mercury/autism rumor. The study that was originally based on was incredibly scientifically flawed, and multiple studies since then have shown absolutely no correlation between autism and vaccination. This is a really good exploration of the subject: http://discovermagazine.com/2009/jun/06-...

You really need to research this decision! Most of these vaccines contain a form of mercury (may be called Thermasol or other) which is under scrutiny for possibly causing an increase in the insidence of Autism in our society today. There are recent documented cases of adults recieving this vaccine and coming down with severe neuralogical disorders that impare their daily lives! There are definate pros and cons to vaccinating your kids but vaccinating against a relatively mild flu is statistically more risky than if your child were to come down with the actual flu itself. What's important to understand is that these viruses are all around at all times, you WILL come in contact with them at some point. The determining factor in whether you come down with the disease is your immune systems ability to fight it! Keeping your childs immune system healthy is what you need to focus on. Their healthy body will do the rest! Having a mild cold or flu will help the body to build it's defenses against future attacks, if you suppress a childs young immune system with immunizations, their bodies never learn to defend themselves.

i had a flu shot when i was almost 8 months pregnant. i refuse to give my son the swine flue vaccine, they made it too quick and ive heard too many horror stories about kids dying and crippling others. count me out. if my sons doctor recommended it, i still wouldnt give it to him, not until the vaccines been out for a long while.

No I wouldn't vaccinate my child because the whole thing is to fresh and seems experimental. You are the parent so I say do what you think is best 4 your children based on their health history.

I had both of my children vaccinated--it is really no different than the seasonal flu vaccine, just formulated for a different type virus (as the seasonal flu vaccine is each year). Neither had any side effects. My kids are 10 and 13, so just one injection.

Both my children and myself and my husband got the H1N1 shot. None of us had any issues.
Most of the anti-vaccination information out there is based on poor, inaccurate science or lacking is lacking any actual evidence. Get your information from multiple reputable sources, and then make your own informed decision.

Nope... my kids did not get vaccinated for it. My oldest is suspected to have had the swine flu (due to when she got the flu, way before regular flu season)... and let me tell you something...
It's the flu :) Body aches, fever, only difference was a few stomach problems and the fever came on FAST (we're talking she's fine at school, plays after school, eats half her snack after school, I think she is changing clothes, and she's laid up, sleeping, with a fever of 103... normal to that in less than an hour)... 3 1/2 days long and she was over it...

I had 5 of my 6 kids vaccinated against the swine flu. The only reason my oldest didn't get vaccinated was because he just had the regular flu nose mist a few days before & ypu have to wait 30 days in between. The other 5 had the swine flu nose mist. Now I have to tell you that I was concerned & my husband was not real thrilled with me having it done. But none of them had any side effects. My oldest is 10 and the other five that did have it done are 9yrs to 4 yrs in age. I just weighed the pros & cons and it came down to the point that I didn't want to be kicking myself while my child was in a coma in the hospital because I didn't give it to them. We have been lucky this season (knock on wood) we haven't even had a major flu in the house. It's a personal choice, one you need to make weighing the consequences of the decision.

This is up to you and its a personal decision since there is so much controversy behind it. I personally am not going to get the shot, i have heard too much bad things about it and my own doctor disagrees with it since there really wasn't a whole of testing done on it. It wasn't even tested on humans before they brought it out to public. Some people have had extreme reactions to the shot and even death in rare cases

My daughter had the first shot in september and the second at the beginning of november. They need 2 shots atleast 4 weeks apart if they are under the age of 9. My daughter had no side effects or problems. She also got the regular seasonal flu shot. My daughters pediatrician said that next winter both the swine flu and regular seasonal flu will be in the same shot.

No, I would not vaccinate against swine flu or any other flu. Before you do any more vaccinations, you should check out what is really in these things. Try googling for research on the subject maybe starting with an article @ http://www.drlwilson.com/. This is a blunt, more extreme view on the subject but will begin to open you eyes to maybe a more balanced approach to the subject. I quit vaccinating my children after their first 2-3 years of infant care and if you will ask around, you will find many others who also do not vaccinate, some only a few things and others no vaccinations at all. It really is OK to make our own decisions...

We have not had our children vaccinated.
From what I've seen on the news, it appears to be just one injection.
But we are a praying family and believe God for his keeping us and our children hidden from this virus. (we don't get regular flu shots either...although we have given them the regular vaccinations that were 'required' from child-birth. I am one that doesn't run to inject medicine in my body.) From what I've seen and read, a lot of these 'shots' cause more harm in the long run and that's another reason we wait until a 'medicine' has been out for longer than 3 years before we say 'ok, it works'. Juice, oranges/vitamin C, clear liquids, chicken soup - all of grandma's remedies still work wonders. (sorry for the length, but this is something that I have always felt passionate about)

Also, if you are ready to hear some other "alternative explanations" of what is REALLY going on, please visit the following Yahoo group: (not for those who prefer to stick their head in the sand, in order to maintain a false sense of "safety"!)

(mother of 4, and grandmother of 9 - none of us have gotten the shot, and so far, we are all fine. In fact, the "flu" we've experienced this year, has not been nearly as bad as what we experienced the past 2 years!)

I absolutely would not vaccinate my child against the swine flu. There is not enough research to prove that the vaccine is safe and the swine flu has proved much milder than expected. I cannot stress enough the benefits of a healthy diet as close to vegan as possible with as much raw food as possible, proper rest, fresh air, sunshine, proper hygiene, lots of pure water. These are nature's rememdies. Whenever my children are feeling sick, they naturally go off cooked foods and prefer fresh or frozen fruit. My son will choose to eat only frozen blueberries. With the exception of chicken pox (he was sick 6 days) he's never been sick more than 2 days. As moms, we really need to study the simple means God has provided in nature to keep our children well. We're too quick to take our kids to the doctors and give them drugs when the immune system assisted by nature and unhindered by man can do a marvelous job of producing wellness. I just can't bare the idea of risking giving my child a life of chronic and mysterious illness and even death by trusting pharmaceutical companies with preventative health care. And if you're pregnant, please do not risk your newborn by getting these vaccines! I don't believe there are any safety studies to prove that flu vaccines during pregnancy won't harm your baby. In animal studies flu vaccines to pregnant mamas can cause austism and schizophrenia in the offspring.

No. My 11 year old son hasn't had any shots since he was about seven, and guess what? He hasn't been sick since. I've never had a flu shot, and guess what. I've never had the flu. My coworkers line up and get flu shots, and more than your think, get sick.
It's a personal choice, and I feel, that good hygiene, proper food choices, plenty of rest, and good additional MINERAL, herb, and vitamin supplements go a long way in keeping your body healthy.

I vaccinated my 18 month old and my 7 year old and they did fine. They both had to have 2 doses because they are under the age of 10. I am 5 months pregnant and decided that getting the highly debated vaccine was important to keep everyone healthy. Both my obgyn and pediatrician recommended the vaccine and I completely trust their opinion.

No; this is the first time this vaccine has been made and they do not know if there will be any future or long lasting side effects. This is a decision that each parent needs to make themselves for their child and pray they made the right choice.

hiya, my21 month old daughter had suspected swine flu before xmas and was horribly ill for 10 days, so when her tests came back negative I took her for the jab as I didn't want her to go through being that ill again, if not worse from swine flu. Whatever you decide for your little one is the right thing for you - but she had no side effects and was fine. I have been reassured that the vaccine is only the normal flu jab with a small dose of the H1N1 and nothing they haven't tested rigorously. It's always a tough decision but my thoughts were that the risks posed by the vaccine were far far less than the swine flu... Good luck with your decision.

we did, for our kids. all 3 are fine. one seemed to get a little runny nose for about 48 hours after each dose. they do 2 doses the first year. if they are over 2 and have no halth problems they can do the nasial mist, under 2 is the shot. they are in elementary school & day care. I not a big fan of vaccaniations but think it is important to keep them healthy and the risk of them being exposed is hire in a day care.

such a controversy really its up to u and trying to get all the ifo out there which u r doing i just got both my boys done a few weeks ago cause i was really concerned about this too but i decided it came down to if my kids got swine flu and died and i hadnt done anything i could never forgive myself. that was the deciding factor for me. so far no side effects they both got h1n1 and seasonal flu in the same day i did the shot because i dont like the idea of a live virus in the nose one, and my baby is supposed to have a booster after a month because he is under a year and he received the baby dose. your choiceyou have to decide but it should be ok and has the risks as most other shots which everyone should get

I have 3 kids and didnt vaccinate any of them. I did the flu shot for three years in a row and each time they got sick, I stopped two years ago and havent had a case of the flu since! I think people over react, its just the flu! Less people have died or had serious complications from the H1N1 then the normal flu. Besides, I have heard too many horror stories of complications from the shot/nasal spray, I think I would rather take my chances with the flu then inject them with something potentially dangerous.
