My name is Phoebe and I am a new mom. My son is 7 weeks old and we live in Mount Vernon, WA. I was excited to see this group because I am looking for moms to connect with in the area. I am a middle school teacher but I am out on maternity leave for the remainder of the school year. If there are any stay at home moms out there who have advice for things to do during the day to avoid going stir crazy I would love to hear them. My husband and I practice attachment parenting. We love wearing our little guy and find that it allows us to go about our daily routines while keeping Decatur close. I am an avid snow skier and hoping we will get some snow in the mountains soon.
It's nice to meet all of you!

It is so nice to see that there are moms with kids the same age as my son and in the area!

My name is Renee and I'm in Oak Harbor. I have 3 kids, 7yr (boy), 3yr (boy) & 10 months (girl). I work part-time from home so I can spend as much time with my kids as I can. We are a Navy family. My husband has been in since 1994. I was in the Navy also, but got out in 1999. We plan on being here forever - don't ever want to move. We have one more tour left until he retires, so hopefully they'll keep us here for our last. If not, I know we'll leave and then come right back.

Hi Phoebe,

I live in Mount Vernon also.  I currently work full-time but am going half-time starting next week.  I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter named Elena.  A friend of mine is on maternity leave with an 11 week old son (she also has a 3-year old daughter), and she starts back to work half-time next week.  A few local things that I did while on my maternity leave were to go to teddy bear time at the library (good way to socialize with other moms), Kindermusik with Maura, and Welcome Baby play group.  When Elena was 6 months, I started taking her to Waterbabies at Riverside (the Y has this too).  I can't wait to go half-time so I can start doing some fun things during the week again.  I hope these suggestions help, and let me know if you ever want to get together.  Kudos on the attachment parenting.  Looks like you got your wish for snow!
