my name is Evana..im 22 & sahm for the time being to my son Marco Jr who'll be 6wks tomorrow...He was born January 6th...a day before his daddy's bday. I am still with the father. He's 23 & a student at Butler as a Therapy & Rehab major..I attended Emporia state & received my associates in social work this past may. I also have a nephew who just turned 3 Jan. 30 & a 6mo old niece who are like my substitute children...In my free time when Im not watching them, I listen to music watch movies, I am a internet junkie so im on all the time lol, I also like to read.

Im here to meet other mommies b/c I feel I cant relate to my friends anymore b/c they dont have kids...all except for 3 of my close friends doesnt have children.

Hi! My name is Desirae and I have one little girl, Kyra, who just turned 2. My wonderful husband Brad works in customer service. I am a SAHM who works part-time from home and enjoy taking my daughter to the library and the park. I would love to meet some new friends too! It's always hard not to get isolated at home... although it also always seems like there isn't enough time in the day to get everything done! :)



I enjoy reading and would love to do scrapbooking (I have tons of stuff in a box waiting for me to find time to pull it out).

hi! my name is maria and i am a sahm to a handsome little punk we call Blake :) he is 5 months old and i have a wonderful husband named lucas. He works at home depot and we have lived in wichita (harry and rock) for 2 years now. I am a nanny but i took the last year off to get used to motherhood (mostly because i had morning sickness through out my entire pregnancy). I am looking to get back into that otherwise I really want to meet other mommies :)

Robin - Yeah I have to stay motivated too.  My husband and I normally play racketball on his days off.  And my son has swim lessons Tuesday evenings.  I'm not ready for extracurricular activities to start already!  He's only 4 and I already have to "schedule" around him  lol

Robin, thanks for the welcome!  I hope that w do get some more members and that we can have some play dates.  I'm a member of a board on cafemom but they do all their playdates during the week.  I sometimes feel like they are stay at home moms and I don't belong.  It sucks.  I have weekends off, and rarely ever get the chance to have a weekday off.  And if I do it's usually because a kid is sick  lol.  But I would love to get to know everyone and have some get togethers I think it'd be fun.  I'm always looking for excuse to get my son out of the house on the weekends.  My hubby works third shift so I have to try and keep the kids gone otherwise he can't sleep with the baby yelling "mamamamadadadamamamamdadada"  and my son just being a 4 y/o lol

hi Crystal & Tiffany! welcome to the group! sounds like we have a few 4 year old boys! mine will be 4 on the 15th. maybe we can get together for a playdate sometime. i am off work mondays. i used to work nights, but now i am on day shifts. Crystal, i used to be an army wife, so i know that loneliness. i went through 2 deployments--one to Bosnia in '96-'97 and one to Germany to cover troops going to Iraq & Afghanistan in 2002. we have been active duty, national guard, and reserve. we lived in Germany for 2 1/2 years (in addition to the deployment). i hope we can get to know each other. i think we have been a little lax at keeping up in this group! sorry! maybe we will be better with more members!

My husband is in the Air Force. Hes been in for almost 9 years now. Its has its ups and downs but the ups out weigh the downs. Hes deployed a lot in the past 4 years but it just makes you stronger.

Hey! Welcome to our group! What branch is your husband in? Mine is in the Air Guard and we still don't know when he is leaving for basic. Right now though he works as a bus driver in Goddard (maybe with your kids?) and I mostly stay at home with my 5 month old boy, although I just got a job at my church working in the nursery wednesday nights.

Hi my name is Crystal and I am 25 with 3 kids I have 2 boys (6 and 4) and one little girl that is 1. We live on the West side of Wichita and my oldest goes to Goddard schools. We have lived here since July 08 due to the military and I haven't really had much time to get out and make friends. I work part time at night as a manager at Papa Johns. Its not a bad job but am getting ready to quit b/c my husband is getting deployed again in May and I can't afford daycare while he is gone. I am looking to meet others that are family oriented but also like to get together and have fun with out kids. If any of you want to get together and take the kids out for a playdate let me know.

yeah, that's why we signed up for guard and reserves too, for that bonus money. it might be okay for you guys if the troops are brought home, but if not, it's really not worth the money. at least it wasn't for us. we were lucky in that he wasn't sent to Iraq--if he had stayed in longer, he definitely would have been. the deployment that we ended up with was just too much strain on our family. our oldest was 18 months old and i was pregnant with our second when he left. it's a long story, but it wasn't fun. some people can do it and make it work, but for some, it just doesn't work.

yeah, i don't think i could go all summer with no pay. child support is one thing, but i don't think it would be enough, unless i was really diligent about saving the other 9 months of the year. i make about $14/hour now, but i only work 20 hours. well, normally 20 hours. Christmas time is obviously busy at the post office and i will work 6 days a week and more than 40 hours. i will have some 10-12 hour days. i really hate that part of my job. the money that i make at that time is great, but i am so exhausted. you can imagine if i go to work around 7pm and work 10-12 hours, how much sleep i get. and i have to have someone watch my kids. last year it wasn't a big deal because my mother-in-law wasn't working at all and my mom worked day shift. this year, my mother-in-law works nights and my mom's schedule varies between days and nights. and my husband works at night too. so, you can see how i am between a rock and a hard place.

i have never heard of Ted Dekker, but that is the genre i prefer. i am currently reading the Left Behind series (again).

Hey Robin. Brad really likes his job bus driving. It pays $12/hr but you only get about 30 hrs a week. The training is not paid but they do give you a $500 sign on bonus after the training so it's almost like it is paid. I would probably be nice for you to have the same days off as your kids but these are not paid so if that is your only job then Christmas and other breaks could be a problem.... I know it is going to be for us :(



I usually read while Eli is breastfeeding and I don't know if you have ever read anything by Ted Dekker but he is awesome! Espically the Circle Series (Black, Red, and White are the names of the books). He is a christian suspense/thriller writer.



We are on the leadership team for Chi Alpha and Brad plays the bass in the worship team. We meet on Tuesday nights at WSU for a kind of college version of a church service and we have bible studys and other events throughout the week. It's alot of fun!



We are still trying to decide between the Air or Navy reserves but probably not active duty. Mostly we could really use the money and the help with school so Brad can finish his degree and we are hoping that if he just joins the reserves we won't have to worry about him being deployed, espically since Obama got elected and he plans to bring everyone home. We are still praying/ thinking about what to do though...

hi Andi! thanks for starting the group! glad to hear about you! i'd like to know about your husband's job! i was thinking that maybe i should look into being a school bus driver. not really what i want to do, but i have been thinking more and more that i should look into finding a job at the school or school-related, so i can have my evenings free and not require babysitters and also not worry about the days my kids are off school--we'd have the same days off.

i like to read too, but i read unconventionally. i have little time to sit and read, but doing data entry at works gets boring, so i listen to audio books.

what do you do with the youth group at Wichita State?

isn't your husband worried about being activated and deployed if he joins the guard? my husband/ex-husband, whatever i should call him now, was in the active duty army, then the army reserves, then the army national guard. i thought the guard would be safe. guess i was naive and pictured them cleaning up after disasters and such, but he ended up being activated and deployed to Germany (milder than it could have been) right after 9/11. long story, but that was a horrible, wretched time. anyways, i've been a military wife, so if you need some support on that front, i've been there, done that. ha, ha.

I'm Andi Weaver, I'm 22, I have one child (3 week old Elijah) and my husband and I have been married for two years. We used to go to Wichita State (which is where we met) and we are still invloved in a christian youth group there called Chi Alpha. I love to read, watch Gilmore Girls and Lost, and if I ever have the time I like to sew and scrapbook.

White is off of Hydraulic and 53rd (? i think?) street south. i graduated from East High in 1995. my kids were in Derby schools, which i loved, but we moved. we thought we could get an out-of-district waiver, but they only had room for one of my girls and i wasn't going to split them up. i have a 2nd grader and a 1st grader. i wish we could get back to Derby district, but the rent is too high in Derby.

I work at 135th and Maple, my kids go to Goddard I have a 3rd and 1st grader and one in half day Pre-K. I like Goddard it is a really good school I went to Goddard it is so much bigger then when I went there. What school did you go to?? I am a west sider, where is White Elementary.

Hi I a Courtney I have 3 kids Sethhe is 9, Maggie she is 7 and Mark he is 5!! They are my world I work weekend nights at Dillons (only throught Christmas) maybe sooner. I watch my niece during the day she is 2!! I am always looking fo new friends!! I especially friends with kids! What side of town do you live?
