Hey, everybody. My name is Trish and I am a stay at home mom. I have 2 little girls and I am just finishing school for Medical Transcription. Just wondering if anyone does this and how is it going?

Hi Trish, My name is Dawn and I do transcription from home and love it. I have been doing this from home for 4 years working for big hospitals as well as doctors offices and find the need is great. I make great money because I am a independent contractor and I request per line payment, not hour. I have a variety of accounts and make between 0.12 and 0.17 per line. This adds up and makes it easy to pay the bills. I love being able to work around my kids schedules and enjoy all that I do.

Hi Tricia,

I've been doing medical transcription for 12 years now and I do love it, though most places are going with voice recognition.  I would be leary if I were just starting out.  I sell Scentsy also.  I work for a local hospital and doctor's offices (2) and don't feel like it's enough.  The pay doesn't seem as good as they said it would be!  I have worked for the hospital for 4 years now and still only make about 12.50 an hour.  I work for the doctor's offices and make 10 and 12 cents a line, which is WAY better pay.  I don't mind those ones, but the work isn't steady and enough to pay the bills.  Good luck to you and I hope it all goes well!

Hi Trish!  My name is Alisa, and I also recently finished school for med transcription.  I have  a 4-year-old boy and work with a non-profit part time, so I'm hoping that working from home will go well!  I am working on a resume now and have casually looked for a job but have not applied anywhere yet.  Hoping people will be hiring in this economy!  I'll let you know how it goes!
