I want to quit daycare.

My name is Julia and I have been doing daycare now for 4 years. I was a pediatric nurse prior to this for about 6 years. We had a very bad situation happen at a licensed home daycare and I ended up not going back to work . I didn't think of the "no income coming in" problem so I had started my own home daycare. Ever since then I have major trust issues and have decided that I want to stay home and don't really want to go back to work. But I've had enough. I was wondering what other moms out there do and how they got started. I've looked into a lot of stay at home jobs, but they seem scandalous to me. Thanks for your time in reading this and helping me out.

Hi Julia,

Wow you've got a ton of responses here! As you can see many moms have chosen to take control of their life and start a business rather then get a job from home. You already are a business owner so you have the drive and attitude you need to be successful in business. As you can see there are so many different businesses here to choose from.

Just in reading the posts many of the mom's here are guiding you to legitimate businesses so that is good. However, before you start any business you need to know how to evaluate the company, are the policies and procedures written to protect YOU or the company? Is the pay plan designed to make me the MOST amount of money on the LEAST amount of time? Is the company stable? There are so many things you need to get educated on BEFORE you sign on the dotted line.

I mentor and coach moms looking to start a home based business and I do it for free. I have joined so many companies and made NO MONEY and for YEARS I was unsuccessful. Now I help moms avoid those years of failure and frustration by giving you FREE education. Get my free e-book Success in 10 steps here: http://myfreecoach.bigmlmsecrets.com that book will give you the skills you need to be successful in a home based business.

Good luck!

Hi
I have 3 small children and researched long and hard for a work at home job. I really wanted to contribute to my family and keep my kids with me during the day. So I did lots of research and I found a great career! I recently have come across a home-based business opportunity with no large investment, no inventory and no risk. It is an Inc. 500 manufacturing company. I work from home with a company that manufactures products that we're already buying elsewhere, but they are better, safer & healthier. We just help set up customer accounts and the company pays us to do so. It has benefited our family so much! I never have to leave my house to be successful! If you would like some more information, please feel free to ask me about how I made it happen for my family! I would love to share the information about our company! I think if you hear all the details about working for this company it will make so much sense to you.

If you would like some additional info. please go to my website at :

http://www.workathomeunited.com/BeAtHome

You can view the link that says view more and then if you would like me to contact you, please click the link that says Get More Info. Now! and leave some basic information and I will get back to you!

Julia,

I love what I do!!!  I make really great income for my time and have complete flexibilty.  I also get to help other women feel good about themselves and change their financial situations.  My company's values are to put God 1st, Family 2nd, and Career 3rd.

I never thought I would enjoy being a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, especially since I had a college degree, no sales experience, and no cosmetic experience.  When I started with MK my husband was in Dental School, I had a 4 month old baby, and worked in research 50-60 hours a week.  Once I had my second son I decided to take them out of daycare, quit my job and become a SAHM/ Work from Home Mom.  I had no problem replacing my income and even earned a FREE CAR!

I am expecting my third baby boy any day now.  My other two boys are age 3.5 and 2.  Mary Kay is great because even when I am at home with my new baby the reorders will continue to come in and so will my commission checks.

Please check out my website or call me anytime: www.marykay.com/kellyfallert

If you already have a MK Consultant give her a call and she would also be glad to talk with you.

Best Regards,

Kelly

SCENTSY!  I love my home to smell wonderful and so do others!  I recently became a Scentsy consultant and I am absolutely thrilled that I can work whenever I want! It's FUN, too. I get to have girlfriends over, other moms, teachers, whoever, and let them smell the WONDERFUL scents, then they fall in love and WANT to buy it. You don't have to have a party, either... You can just drop off catalogs at places you frequent, doctor's offices, grocery stores, wherever! They give you your own website and the starter kit contains everything you need. I don't have to push it on anyone and the prices are SO reasonable! If you are interested in setting your own hours, please visit my website at: www.scentsy.com/amybetterton and check it out. All of the info is there, as well. Another great thing is that even allergic people can use Scentsy. Also, there is no flame or too much heat. It will never burn any child who may come in contact with it and like I said, the scents are HEAVENLY! Please take the time to check it out! It is definitely worth it!

Hi Julia!

I know there are so many options out there for working from home.  However, most of those options involve working for a company...not working for yourself.  If you are looking for something that is purely YOUR business where you can work at your own pace, your own hours, etc, have you ever thought about becoming an internet marketer?  No, you don't need to be a computer whiz or know everything about technical design to become one.  In case you aren't familiar with it, here's a high level overview:

1. As an Internet marketer it is your job to send people (create traffic) to company websites.

2. When those people make purchases you are paid from the company who owns the product. There are literally 100,000's of companies online who are willing to pay you up to 90% of the entire product sale price just for sending people to their site.

3.  Each pay period you will receive a check in the mail that you take to your bank and deposit (or cash). Some companies will pay you directly to your Paypal account, or even directly to your bank account via wire transfer.

Making money on the Internet is not a get rich overnight scheme. If it were that easy everyone would be doing it!  So, what it comes down to is you have to learn the proper internet marketing techniques in order to succeed. If you are willing to put in the time to learn, this can be a VERY profitable business.  I did ALOT of searches on this topic and finally found a website that can teach you the techniques you need.  It's called Wealthy Affiliate.  They give you step by step instruction on how to get started as well as have continuous online support through forums, email etc. You have to sign up as a member of the site, and there is small monthly fee to continue your membership.  HOWEVER, because they provide so much for you on the site for free, such as free web hosting, a free web site builder, etc, that is really the only amount you have to pay...you won't need to come up with "start-up money" for your business.

Here's a link for you to take a look at it:

http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com?a_aid=He...

Hopefully this information helps you or at the very least, gave you another idea to look into.  I'm a stay at home too, and love the time I'm able to spend with my son.  I usually work on my marketing when he's asleep...that's the joy of this, you can work on it when YOU have the time, you're not on anyone's clock.

Let me know if you have any questions and good luck! :)

Hi Julia,

I know what you mean. I remember also trying to find the right thing and being weary of scams etc. I researched into many different companies and examined a lot of different things. Most of the companies that everyone's heard of are pretty legit - but some can be more challenging to succeed at than others. There are many different choices out there. The first step is looking carefully into what is right for you. A huge benefit of direct sales is the ability to set your own hours. This gives you the flexiblity to earn a little extra at times - or take time off to be with the family as needed as well. Some companies are more difficult than others. some require a large investment to start up - then require an inventory. (some say they don't require it but I've heard of how much they push it) My best advise is what you are already doing - research hard before you join. Be certain that it is right for you. Make sure you can try it out with no risk.

Some questiosn to consider as you are looking into businesses: How long has the company been around? What do you enjoy doing? Is there a direct sales company out there that you particularly enjoy their products? Do they have a good warranty? Keep up with technology and trends? What kind of compensation to they offer? What do you get paid and how much do you have to work? Do you have to deliver? Who pays for the host gifts? Some companies require an inventory. I find it better not to have to worry about that. I prefer to have the products shipped directly to the customer. I didn't want to mess with having to reinvest all my money into my business to build up inventory and always worry about having things on hand.

With the economy the way that it is - it is important to look at the necessity. Try to pick something that isn't as much of a luxury. Think about what it is that you can offer the consumer. It should also be something you believe in.

Make sure you sign under a leader who will back you and be supportive. It is important that they should match your efforts with their time and attention. Your success should be their priority and not as much theirs.

I have been with The Pampered Chef for 2 1/2 years and I'm now a director. That is the best choice for me after all the research I did. I just love working for this amazing company. A short promo on The Pampered Chef is that we earn an average of $100+ per kitchen show. We do hands on demos now so you don't have to stand up in front of people and talk for an hour. Our parties are fun and educational. We recently launched our new economy cooking recipes. In this day and age we're all looking for quick, easy, cheap recipes. Our recipes take around 29 minutes or less and are only about $2 or less a serving! I love being able to teach people how to save time and money. Our products have great guarantee's and are a true investment. We have awesome tax deductions - including GROCERIES!! New products coming out all the time. Plus when everyone is getting laid off - we just got raises with our brand new career plan that no one can match! Even the opportunity to earn a car!! I'd love to tell you more if you're interested. Please email me at donatskitchen@gmail.com. I'll answer any questions that you'd like to help you with making the best decision for you to stay at home.

Good luck!

Hi Julia,

I searched for a few years looking at ways to make money and stay home with my kids. Have you heard of Ameriplan? I am in Independent Business Owner and I help people save on Dental and/or Healthcare costs with Ameriplan discount programs. As this is not insurance you don't need a license to sell the programs. Basically you advertise the programs and sign new members up. Ameriplan head office managers the memberships after sign up. You get paid a commission on every membership for every month they are active. The plans are very affordable and the savings are great. I haven't seen better value for dental coverage and a lot of people are pairing the health program with a high deductible insurance.

If you would like to know more about the programs visit www.MyBenefitsPlus.com/rdoll

If you would like to know more about the great team that I belong to and the support that is provided to all team members visit www.FreedomAtHomeTeam.com/rdoll

Please let me know if you have any questions .

Good luck in your search.

Hi Julia. I am also a nurse, I was actually a Director of Nursing for a nursing home when my boss introduced me to the company I am now part of. After 1 year, I was able to leave my nursing job and do this now on a very part time basis. The company I am with is Team National. It is not a product based company and there is a ton of help from a lot of great people. I would love to get you more information on this company so you can make the decision if it is something that is right for you or not. There is absolutely no pressure. I too looked at a lot of things on the internet but they all seemed like a scam. This company is for real. You can check out our website at www.bign.com/bbrunner or email me if you would like more information.

Juila,

I personally never put my children in daycare, but I gave up my career to stay at home until they were school age.  Now what I asked myself?? I started working in an office to make a few extra bucks, but each time a child was sick or school was closed there was no paycheck.  I was introduced to a home based business, and was very skepical in the begining, until I used the products-loved them, and had more info about the cmpany, it became a no brainer! I started two years ago, and have never looked back.  If you would like to learn more about my business and how you to can own your own business, make your own hours and write your own paycheck check out my website.

I know what you mean. I never wanted to put my kids in daycare. I quit my teaching job when my 1st son was born b/c I felt my calling was to be home with him to raise him. I figured, I had him, I should be the one raising him. No one is going to be able to take care of him like I can. ya know?

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your daycare. :(

I did search online and off for something that I could do from home and I found my team and company fairly early on (before losing too much money on scams) so i consider myself pretty lucky. I feel that my prayers were answered with my business. I took the time to listen to the overview and it just made sense to me and I've been with them for 2 years. I love them and I pull in a consistent, steady paycheck that is continually growing b/c of my effort.

Here's my website, feel free to check it out. If it strikes your fancy, go ahead andclick on get more info. i'll contact you personally (we don't broadcast your personal info) and we'll set an appt to get you all the details about our team/company/compensation plan, etc.

Hi Julia, it's very true there are a lot of scams out there on the net. Have you thought about becoming a Virtual Assistant? It has a really low cost start up. All you initially need is a computer with good internet access and a telephone, and maybe commonly used software (ie. microsoft). I researched the net for a couple of months then joined a network for Virtual Assistants - A Claytons Secretary. If you have any administrative/customer service etc skills it might be worth a look. I scored my first regular client within 2 months. You have to pay an annual membership fee but it has already paid for itself tenfold.  The membership entitles you to job leads which you then apply for. It's fantastic. There are also lots of other companies you can join. Once you start looking you will be amazed, as I was. Elance is another decent trustworthy network to join too.  Just to note, it can take a little while to get your home based business up and running, have an alternate source of income until you can see it working for you. Hope I have been helpful. Cheers, Kate

Hello! I know exactly where you are coming from! I have only been doing daycare since May (I started after my 3 month maternity leave after having my first child). I love being able to stay home with my daughter, but I am absolutely EXHAUSTED from daycare! I seems all I do is constantly clean, make meals, break up fights & have un-understanding parents. I feel it is impossible for me to close if I have a sick child of my own because my parents are so rude if I do so. When I started the money was great, but now with the economy the way it is, the town I live in is in a hurt for daycare. I only have 4 daycare kids! When I had 10 this summer.

I also have been looking for other ways to stay a home, but I agree, they all either cost money to get started, or they seem to risky and not legit. If you come across anything, please let me know :)
