A legitimate work from home job/business for me involves some product or service being sold or provided.There has to be moneies being made on the tail end for there to be a payment or commission made.They should be members of BBB,offer a real address, and a 100% money back guarantee if there is a fee involved.Any fee should be small/manageable.(Under $30 for sure) There should also not be any business monthy fees to run the business if youa re making them money and earning commission.You should also not be committed to anything long-term or be able to cancel easily at any time.I work for a legitimate company that has been around for almost 30yrs.I have been receiving a check each month since Oct 2006.I am a marketer for a wellness company and they pay me a residual income to refer others to the company to shop.A simple concept of customers referring customers.How nice it is to get paid to do the things I am already doing. How I see it, a lot of people come into work from home opportunities and expect cash with very little to no effort at all. When they don't get the cash....the companies are called scams. The start up fees are basically you starting your own business. What about the people starting a new McDonalds or Taco Bell franchise? It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and lots of your time. Direct Sales Companies cost a few hundred.There are so many millionaires out there from direct sales, They didn't get there by talking to 10 15 20, They got there by talking to 1000s. If you don't get lots of no's for your company than you are not doing your job. It's not a failure or a scam, you just have to be committed enough to move on to the next and the next. You also have to have the belief that the company, product, and the person who sponsored you into it.I found that company and that product and the sponsor to succeed and I am moving forward. I also have a true belief in the product I am sharing. I have made it my mission in life to share this with everyone.

I agree, just because a work at home opportunity has a fee, that does not mean it is a scam. I think there is some confusion about this.

In general, work at home jobs do not require any monetary investment, however your income may be limited.

Home based businesses on the other hand may have some start up fees involved, however, your earning potential can be much higher.

I completely agree with your thoughts. First of all, just because you have to invest money doesn't immediately mean it is a scam. I work from home and earn an income that is paid but I did have to invest up front to get started. That invested money has given me the support of a legitimate company who provides me with all of my websites, maintains them, processes all of the orders I take and offers unbelievable training. To expect to start a home business or to work from home without any out of pocket expenses is living in a fantasy world!

Your second point of measuring the investment against the possible income is right on target. My work pays very generously for the amount of overhead cost I had to pay. I covered the cost in my first week of working!
