I have been affiliated with this wonderful company called Herbalife since 08. You should check out the one I chose. I can usually find a reason to not do these business plans, but with this one, I couldn’t say no. It is 100% free to try, with no purchasing required, so people have nothing to lose to try it. You only need one customer, then refer other affiliates to do the same. There are hundreds of different things that you can do from home, many of which don't require a start up fee or have one so small that it can be easily "recouped". Each one will be different (no matter how similar they seem), so it's important to know what you're looking for and how things will suit your personality in order to avoid becoming discouraged by a never ending list of "opportunities".
So let me ask you a few simple questions to get you started looking in the right place;
1) would you prefer something more social (talking or typing to other people) or more solitary (dealing mostly with objects or data)?
2) Do you prefer leadership and teaching roles?
3) Do you have any particular topics or fields of interest?
4) Would you rather create, correct/fix, distribute, or none of the above?

There's probably a few more questions you could ask yourself, but answering those ones should get you off to a good start.
I do have a home-based business and I am looking to expand my team, so if you are interested I can provide you with more information, but I think it's important that you figure out what you are looking for before listening to too many "opportunities".
Often we convince ourselves that we need things that are not good for us, simply because they happen to be available right now and we haven't yet had time to decide what we really need.

What about mystery shopping? Flexible hours, but most of the time kids are not allowed to go with you. Don't ever pay to sign up for a mystery shop company. I have tried Avon, Tupperware, Home Interiors, Miracle Maid Cookware, Kirby Vaccuum Cleaners, and….gee the list goes on in an effort to make extra money through the years, only to have failed miserably because it was just too time consuming and I simply did not like selling.
