So i had mt first baby on jan. 5th and he has a lot of issues nursing when he's tired. He will either latch and not stay on after a few sucks so then i have to reattach him every couple minutes. Then he fusses and won't relatch for awhile. He also does want to stay latched on during day time feedings.

This is completely normal with a newborn. My husband's job when my now ten month old was little was to wake her and keep her awake during feedings. He would undress her, rub her feet, and completely irritate her to wake her up and try and keep her up. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. If it was really bad we would use a cold wash cloth while she was undressed. My daughter also cluster fed during the day, especially as it got closer to bed time she would stay latched on for long periods of time or want to eat every 30 minutes till we put her down for the night. This is all completely normal and will get better as your baby starts to stay alert longer during the day. Also remember at 6 weeks you're little one will be going through a growth spurt so you will see that his feedings will last longer. They are only newborns for a little while so enjoy the time you have together and don't worry about how long a feeding lasts.

Have you considered seeing a Lactation Specialist to help with the latching issues? Otherwise if breast milk is important to your little one you can always try pumping and feeding the expressed milk until you can get a good latch.
