thanks sarah and sonia, it's nice to be reassured that all will be ok and just need to be patient during the transition....they have tried taking her to a quieter place, but not much luck. i'll have to try the cup idea. we did check with her pediatrician and he said as long as she doesn't lose weight and has lots of wet diapers she'll be OK. thanks for the advice. best, julia

Hi Julia.

As long as she is eating at home, she's going to be fine.

My 11 month old has been in day care since she was 8 weeks old. There are days she will eat like there is going to be a famine coming, and there are days she doesn't want a lick of it. Her pediatrician assured me that this is normal when I had the same concerns. Everyone is different, and being that she just started last week, it's a huge adjustment. All of a sudden, someone other than mommy is feeding her.

Check with your pediatrician as well. S/he will be able to give you advice how to ease her in to this transition.

Hope this helps.

My 5 mth old has started getting distracted while eating. Are they offering your daughter her bottle in a quiet dark comfortable place..perhaps with relaxation music or lavendar oil burning? Maybe they could bath her and then feed her? Or if it's breastmilk, offer a small amount in an open mouthed cup so that she can smell it, and then offer the bottle? I hope these are new helpful ideas for you. All the best during the settling in period at daycare.
