My baby boy is about to turn 5 months and I just started feeding him 1 tbs of rice cereal with 4.5 oz of milk at 9 -9:30pm before he goes to bed and then at 6:30 in the morning I feed him 5.5 oz of milk and do the same every five hrs until 9-9:30 pm comes. He seems to do ok with it. Am I doing ok? I'm a new mom.

They have a special water for babies, I'd suggest that because depending on your water sometimes the extra minerals and things in tap water may not be best for a baby. They have a brand called Nursery Water, you should be able to find it at Walmart or the grocery store. Sounds like you're doing a great job with the food! :)

Im a first time mom, have a (almost) 5 month old daughter. That girl came out hungry. Weve moved past the rice and are onto babyfoods now, although I still mix rice in to make more since shes always hungry. I mix it up too, sometimes food, sometimes a bottle. As long as your little one isnt throwing a fit I'd say your doing great

I wouldn't offer water for another couple months and when I started solids I skipped rice cereal and went to veggies but never offered more the a spoonful or two till about 8 months.

Ok thanks!! So do I still increase the milk when he starts eating more cereal and start eating veggies and fruits? Is it safe to give my baby tap water? I think when I get him on a schedule when he starts eating veggies and fruits I won't be so worried

Seems fine. I started giving oatmeal cereal to my daughter at 2 months because she wasn't getting full off of formula anymore (over 90 ounces a day), I gave my daughter a lot more than just 1 tbs, but your doing fine.
