My daughter hits herself when she gets mad...as hard as she can...anyone know how to maybe deter her from it? I grab her hand and try to make her rub her head and say NICE CC but when she gets mad again, she just hits herself all over again. Is this normal? Help!!

Two of my three children have gone through that. My oldest (now 10) did that as a toddler. Whenever he was upset, usually at me (I had a newborn at the time) he would get on his knees on the floor and start banging his head. After trying the same method you have used, then trying restraining him I finally gave up and would quickly sneak a pillow under his head as he was banging away. The I would walk out of his line of sight (where I could still seehim) and try to show him his actions were not bothering me. He grew out of it after he realised the only person he was hurting was himself. My youngest now 4, will pinch herself on the thigh when throwing a tantrum, I think she does this as she soon realises mommy is not swaying (I said NO and I meant it) and needs to keep going (crying). This is not what bugs me as after having been tormented for years by my other children I have learned to simply walk away before either of gets too upset, what really bothers me about her behaviour (and I've caught her doing this) is once she's good and worked up and in mid scream, she will put her two fingers down her throat and gag until she throws up. We have had nice talks about this action (when we're both calm or completely after the incedent) about how it's not a good thing to do to your body... yada yada. She hasn't had a repeat in about 2 1/2 months now. Yay. I hope this helps, it was the only thing I could do.
