It doesn't really hurt it is a needle that is inserted into your belly it's like a pinch a little uncomfortable but doesn't really hurt. Good Luck!

I had one done at 37 weeks with my first son to see if his lungs were developed to be induced. I was very nervous and scared because I hate needles and tend to pass out getting blood drawn but it was actually fine. I closed my eyes when they put the needle in but I didnt feel a thing and had no pain or discomfort afterwards either.

I had an amnio at around 32-26 weeks to see if my baby's lungs were developed enough to be delivered early. They set me up as if I was going to have an ultrasound. I watched the ultrasound and could see the needle go in but didn't feel anything. I don't remember any pain just pressure. I was thinking about the welfare of my child. After the loss of one child I was willing to put up with a large needle and a little uncomfortable time.

That child is now 8 years old and incredibly healthy. He was born at 36 weeks and went home just like he was born at term. Good luck.
