Are you unhappy in your job?

I've been unhappy in past jobs and personally know many who currently are. A recent member of the MyWorkButterfly.com (partners with COM) community offered the most incredible advice about self-discovery... have a read and let me know your thoughts.

"How do you pursue self discovery?

You are essentially finding out what your values are, where your natural inclinations lie, where you build skills easiest and what draws you in to “want” to keep doing it. The best and easiest place to start is by making a list of all the things (not necessarily jobs) that interest you or did interest you earlier in your life. It’s not unlike planning for that 2 week vacation. You think through the things that sound interesting or fun, research them and put it on your itinerary to do. Systematically pursue each item on the list, trying each thing long enough to get beyond the roughness of trying something new. Eventually you will discover what kind of interest that item holds for you. If it doesn’t interest you, move on. But before you do, think through what aspects of it you liked and didn’t like. That learning is key to the direction you take on the following discoveries. While you are in that process, you will discover other related items I call “threads”. Let those threads go on the list and as you do that you will notice a natural expansion of new things to try. This experimentation can be trying different jobs, pastimes or education. I have seen examples of people who have made a great career and income out of building sand castles – the wisdom here is to not discount anything."

Association Healthcare was established before HMO & PPO programs. There are no health restrictions so everyone qualifies. No social security numbers necessary. You can protect your whole family for as little as $89.95 per month. Take a look: www.janaholmes.com.

I love my job working from home and helping other women do the same! It's one of the best decisions I ever made! Having your own business in this day and age is the key to success!

That's the way to work it! You have to figure out a medium that suits your criteria. You doing a good job and sometimes it may seem overwhelming but just remember the baby won't be a baby for long. Joy comes in the morning. Stay strong.

I hate my job. The hours are horrible because I work partly 3rd shift and partly 1st. So I always have to find time to take a nap when the baby takes a nap and if she doesn't I don't. Otherwise, I get about 4 hours a night after she goes to bed and before I have to get up and go to work. Than my boss wants to call me all day about unimportant things he could have took car of while I was working. I have learned to turn the ringer off and he can leave a voice mail and I will call him back if it is important other wise he can wait until the next day.

First of all, you should never let a job be your life. You are there for reasons that you explained so now it comes to the question if you are willing to put up with some stuff. Times are hard for everyone so instead of changing jobs change yourself. Try being positive. Have a pleasant attitude about what you're doing. No matter what attitudes you come across just remember your children are more important than self disappointments. Don't let Satan still your joy. Even through the tough times, count it all joy because God has worked out your life just stay positive.

@ Christine Jones I totally understand how you are feeling. My family are all in Ireland and I loved London with my husband and friends before my son was born. However I feel myself being increasingly homesick and de motivated at work and am not sure how to deal with it.

I hate my job with every fiber of my being. I would love to attend school, but with the hours I work and having 2 kids, attending would be rough. One of the things that keeps me at my job is the pay and benefits. I have 19 more years before I can retire, which I don't think I can mentally go that long. I get the impression my husband thinks I should tough it out. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I was until I quit. It was brainless and my motivation was decreasing. Luckily, my husband was very supportive so I started working from home doing something that I love and am passionate about.

I can relate to this sooo.... much. Its not that I am unhappy but I am puzzled of what I should do concerning my 11 year job. I enjoy the job and the flexibility but now as i am getting older, I desperately need insurance and now i'm just not sure whether to change jobs now or hold on.

I love my job. I work at home for an International Greeting Card company. I work my own hours, spend quality time at home, get to sleep in if I want, earn a great income and best of all, I'm my own boss so I get to be "Employee of the month" every month. Want more information? Contact me.

i love my job, but i hate how much time it takes from my husband and son. Why is it so hard to live off of one salary in todays world? my husband is amazingly supportive, but sometimes i just cant hold it all together. i want to be a mommy n stay at home, but bills just wont allow that...its so frustratin n there seems to be no way around me working.

Yes, I'm unhappy in my job. some might consider it a perfect job because I only work part-time and am able to be at home with my child, but professionally, I don't see it going anywhere and it's hard to be motivated to do it. But I am looking for a change and when I have enough transition money saved, then I will make that change.

I also enjoy working, but my employer is cutting back on people and I'm getting slammed with multiple jobs while forced to keep only one job title ... no recognition by the company for this extra effort and no extra pay. I am frustrated and actively looking into new horizons for work. No success yet.

I tell you, I have been doing what you described here, and frankly, it's expensive. At least all the different things I am interested in, and am trying has cost me. I'm a singer, so I tried learning an instrument (lessons, cost of instrument), I love crafting (cost of supplies), I went back to school and got my Master's degree (need I say more $$$$$). I say, find something and stick with it dang it! LOL

I sure did hit the jackpot. All I do is ask people questions about what they want...whether it be health, financial, personal, and share information on how they can get it. They decide whether they want to pursue it. If they decide to, I show them how to get it. Depending on where they live, I can share this information in person, on the phone, webinars...however it works out. Email me if you want to know more details. My email is resully3470@yahoo.com

How about working from home. I found a company called Family Care. Founded in 1983 it is the orginator of medica discount & saving programs. So if you are underinsured or have no insurance this is a great opportunity to get coverage and make a substanial wage at the same time. Check out healthcareforeveryonenow. having a college degree means SQUAT in today's economy. I just left the only job available after a 4 month search, a $10/hr daycare job (took my kids to work with me, even had my 4 year old in my class) and am now sitting on my tushie at home staring at that lovely degree.
I've done the 'at home' MLM and internet sales, and it's more of a job to me than getting out of the house to work was....

Currently, I do not like my job. I feel guilty when I am at work and away from my daugher. I would much rather be a stay at home mom, but that is not an option. Today it is so hard for only one parent to work and make ends meet. I have a master's degree in biology, but would rather just lose my degree and be at home with my daughter.
