Semen contains prostaglandins and does actually help soften or ripen the cervix. Also the uterus contractions after you have an orgasm may help jump start the process, however there are no guarantees. Having your doctor strip your membranes, which is when they do an exam and run their finger between your cervix and membranes sometimes works too, it can be uncomfortable while they are doing it though. I tried sex, my doctor stripped my membranes and I also walked every night and had to be induced both times. There are old wives tails regarding Castor oil, but I would not try it, doctors always tell you to try sex and walking. Good Luck and Congratulations!

I have to agree with everyone sex does work especially if you have an o. Plenty of walking and hot showers too helped me as well. Some friends told me about hot ginger tea but i never tried it.

My doctor told us to have sex. Apparently the sperm can help dilate the cervix.

YES! I agreee with everyone else. You need to have lots of sex! I was so sick of being pregnant and was like this is the night we are getting this baby out of me. We had some major sex and one hour later i went into labor. It works i swear by it.

Not just sex, it has to be the big O... the contractions of your uterus during O is supposed to jump start birthing contractions. Walking stairs is supposed to help too. Sorry to be so blunt but I'm a plain talker.

Have your doctort "strip your membranes" I had my baby one day after my doctor did this--had her on her due date.
