Considering buying one of the high tech thermometers - do you prefer the ear, under arm or forehead? Any feedback would be appreciated

I love my forehead thermometer!!! It was very expensive...like 45-50 bucks...but so worth it! I can sneek in my kids rooms in the middle of the night to check their temp when they're sick without waking them up!!! It's the tempral lobe kind...don't know if I spelled that right or not. I got it at wal mart.

Don't waste your money on the ear ones! Go to your local drugs store or even wal-mart, and get a cheap digital one. I think maybe 4-5 dollars. And use it under the arm. For toddlers it's a little stressing if they don't like their arm being held closed for the 60 seconds it takes, but at least it's more accurate!

the ear one doesn't work on anyone... my husband & I tried it on adults and children of all ages.. just a piece of junk - a waste of $50.

I heard from the public health that the under arm thermometer is the best and most accurate, supposedly the ear one does not tell an accurate reading until the children are older.

The forehead thermometers are more accurate, but my peditrican told me that we should just take our daughter's temp under her arm and that it is only about 1 degree different.

Hi - my husband bought a $50 ear thermometer.. a piece of garbage,, you can take a temp 4x within 5 minutes and get 4 different readings.. 101, 96.9, 100.3... I would not recommend any expensive type without spending a large amount.. the hospitals have some awesome quick read thermometers that work well.. any over the counter ones really don't get the job done.. the nurses in the hospital agreed w/me.. the good old fashion rectal thermometer works the best or you can place one under the child's arm especially if real young and get a pretty accurate read.. just my thoughts.. jenn
