Daycare when you go back to work

I want to ask my Mother-in-Law about watching our son a couple times during the week. I thought she would offer right after he was born, but she isn't showing interest. Can anybody give me some ideas to break the ice and get this question asked before it is too late?

its not easy going back to work and child care can be a problem. you would think that if she wanted to help she would offer but then again she may be waiting on you so its not like shes push you in to anything. its probs best to just ask her but make it clear that if she doesnt feel she can help then just to say and you will work something else out while you still have time.

Start a conversation about you going back to work and finding someone to care for your son, how expensive it's going to be, how to trust a stranger with your child, etc. Hopefully, your mother-in-law will offer at that point, if not - just ask if she would be willing to help.
