Does anyone get up early to get a workout in before work? How early and what do you do?
I found a gym that is open from 5 AM - 11 PM, 7 days a week. And is a short distance away from my home. I meet a friend there every other morning at 5AM. I have older children 19 & 21 who are at home at that time with my 7 year old. My friend and I have a no call policy except for emergencies. We just expect to see eachother thare and do not stand eachother up. There are many days when I just don't feel like going but knowing that my friend is expecting to see me there gets me up and going. After work would never work for me as I feel that there are too many things bound to happen to prevent me from going (being tired, dinner taking longer than expected, other famoliy demands). As tired as I am in the morning I feel great for the rest of the day knowing that I took care of myself first and that I don't have to feel bad or guilty about not getting around to exercising later. I do cario on the elliptical and weights for toning.

yes, i just started and it feels GREAT!!! i'm up at 6:30 a.m. and i do the walking workout on comcast (on demand ch). they have lots of workout plans, but i would love to find some people to walk a track with as well. it seems like it would be pretty good to be with someone else for support instead of doing it alone, but never the less i'm so glad i chose to start. GOOD LUCK!

I wake up early, but it isn't to exercise. I wish I had time to fit that in too! I have horses so I get up early to take care of them so that when I get home from work, I have all afternoon to play with my kids. If I were to have time to work out I would use my eliptical machine, stretch and do some sit-ups/push-ups, squats. Hopefully I can get back to that soon. But if you can do it, I highly recommend getting up early to work out. It sucks in the beginning but then you have all the time in the world to spend with your kids!

I get up at 6am and go running with one of my girlfriends for 30 minutes. If I didn't have someone depending on me, it would make it a lot harder to get out of bed. I tried to work out in the evenings but something would always come up or I would lose my motivation.

Yes, I do. I love it. It givesme the energy I need and help me wake up too. Not to mention as a mom when I say I will do it when I get off or later. You should know, that does not happen. Either I am wore out from the day at work or there is always something that comes up. So, for me it is best to work out in the morning. My daughter is 5 now and after I had her I started working out in the morning. And it was hard but I have done it ever since and have lost all my baby fat and plus more. You can do it.

I wake up every morning at 6am, put on a morning show on the radio and do my first, and probably most extensive workout of the day after a power bar. My routine usually includes Tonique, Hip Hip abs and one of my yoga routines and a shower. This usually takes me until about 8:30 at the latest to finish. Then I get my son up and ready for the day. I don't start work until 10am and his day care is right next door to my job. Hope this helps.

I so cannot get up and out to workout in the morning. I was doing p90x in the evenings-my children were napping still 3-5pm, but now....they are up. So long story short-I haven't worked out in over a week. My 21 month old still doesnt sleep through the night-I must be doing something wrong--so I have lack of sleep and lack of energy to workout for the most part.

I am NOT, NOT, NOT a morning person. I really wish I was though. I'd love to be able to get up that early (4:30am someone up there said...WOW! That's really amazing! Way to go!) and work out. I have to get my daughter ready for school in the morning because my husband leaves for work at 5:50am. Even if I did wake up and get to the gym, they don't open until 5:30am! I wake up and have time to get myself and my daughter ready for the day. I work until 5:30 pm each day and don't get hom until 6:15 pm. By the time I make dinner and eat, it's almost bedtime for my daughter. We have about 10-15 minutes to really be together without anything to do. I get her ready for bed, shower her, read for the recommended but much loved 20 minutes every night. She's in bed at 8:30pm. By this time, I am ZAPPED of energy. Intimate time with my husband is usually around 8:45 - 9:00 because he goes to sleep early to wake up early. Seriously, that is my day, every day. I also work a part-time job at Lush once a week which is from 6 -10pm.
The only real time I could fit in a workout is if I woke up at 5:00am and did home videos. This could be my time to get in my workout, but like I said, I'm not a morning person. This is my excuse and I need to get over it right? right. I would love to work out after work, but it just isn't a great idea because I'd end up just buying fast food for dinner and messing up my whole work out!
I hate having to work. :(
I'd love to work out in the morning, but my 16-month old still doesn't sleep through the night, so I always feel like a train ran over me by the morning... are there any moms whose kids don't sleep through the night and able to squeeze in a workout somewhere? Love to hear about it.

I work from home, but with three boys that are all active in sports and my youngest cannot be home alone yet and I don't want my older two to feel like they have to babysit all the time. I usually walk to their games and then during their pre-game warm-ups I am walking around in the park.
We also go to the neighborhood pool every afternoon that we can. I swim laps there for 10min every hour as it is adult swim only. And I am usually playing and throwing my youngest around in the pool the other 45min of the hour. By the time I get home at night my body can feel the workout.
I can also feel it in my muscles as this is day 3 of the water play/exercise. I weigh in next week and do measurements again so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is all doing something in the positive.

i work out with my son (16 month old) I bring some of his toys into our home gym so he can play while I run on the tradmil or do eliptical. on days i do the recumbent bike he always wants to sit on my lap so I put him on my shoulders and we play peek a boo around my head while i pedal away!! When I do a video I include him and he really tries to do what I do... a great way to keep him active and teach that exercise is important and fun

I used to get up early but it was too easy to talk myself out of the workout in my half asleep state. So now I get my workout in after dinner. It's quieter in my house then and I find I am more willing to get it in and not skip it.
I alternate between mornings, afternoons, and evenings with my exercise routine, eliptical, and long walk, etc. around whenever I get a chance. It is not ideal but it works better than nothing. I have a rule that if I didn't get exercise for a couple days, then I must go on the eliptical at home. I usually get up at 5:30 and get some quiet time in and stretching at least. I also make sure I get 7-8 hours sleep each night. Sleep time is very important too.

I really want to do that for myself, because its a good thing to do in the morning to start your day, but at the moment, am still wondering how that could be possible as am still doing exclusive breastfeeding for my baby, once am up, she'll be up also. So, am still trying to study her in order to work out the suitable time for me and my baby.

I actually work at a gym. I'm there mon-fri at 4:45 am, I see alot of mom's there in the morning! I see them usually work out for 45 min to an hour. Then they usually shower andget ready at the gym so that by the time they get home, they feel good, alert, and refreshed! They have their whole day in front of them to get things done while the kids are at school!

uhhh NO... LOL. I am a lazy morning person & I hate the fact that I am rushed around beginning at 6-ish. I haven't really "exercised" in a little while, BUT when I was more active, I would wait until about 9-ish. The kids were in bed, and my husband was home. He kinda liked his alone time- (finally he can watch his sports in peace...LOL). also- I live in a small town- I didn't feel unsafe....it was peaceful

I run about 3 miles during my lunch break most days of the week and work out in my home gym (that I put together little by little as I could know I wouldn't be getting to a public gym after baby) for about 30-45 min after work 3 days a week. Baby either is hanging out with dad or watching me pump some iron!!! Where there is a will, there's a way. I still find/make time to cuddle and love my little boy too. Long days, that's all.

I used to get up at 5:30am and do a workout video, but now my youngest wakes up when I do...it never fails. So now I workout at night after they go to bed (7pm) I sell in home fitness programs so that I can work part time as an accountant and be with the kids more. There is quite a variety of them on the market and it makes it easy when you find a minute..just pop one in and do what you can! http://www.shapemefit.net/1_2_Products.h... if you would like to check some of them out. If you have a mac the demo videos won't work.. : ( I am working on that issue.
